Ben, the purpose built luxury site sounds a great idea.. can you elaborate where it may be and is 88 O' Connell St a possibility?
With the North Tce, Gallerie site etc what is confusing is the Liberals are putting the Le Cordon Bleu at Lot 14. Does anyone know if its a commercial lease or govt/taxpayer funded?
Since that there has been no word from them or C&G of their future plans here. I saw they were looking for tenant/s for the offices/towers behind but until that happens it appears it will sit idle.

Love it and wish it would happen. My understanding is these luxury brands will soon make an appearance in the CBD but will be in a new purpose built centre.
Cheers Ben. This purpose built centre intrigues me, any info you could divulge?

I can’t say much. To be honest I don’t know a lot other than the location but it is in the central cbd but does not have mall frontage.

Walking along North Terrace yesterday, past the old Club 199 and heritage buildings, am so sick of seeing this area neglected and dilapidated.
While I've felt Luxury retail should be at Burnside, couldn't help but think a cluster of luxury brands in this location, continuing on from Tiffany & Co, could be such an invigoration to North Tce, in line with the upcoming redeveloped Skycity and Riverbank, as well as when Realm and Adeladian are completed further up the road.
Got my crappy photoshop skills on for a bit of fun.
Wonder if there was any progress with this

Disused since the turn of the millennium.
And sometimes, I pass Bluey's Ute World on Main North Rd in Nailsworth which opened in 2002 but closed down in 2008 and has been abandoned since the beginning of this decade.

Well that's me out of ideas. I know that Woolworths aren't intending on renewing their lease which expires next year I think?

My guess would have to be 199-200 North Terrace.

Possibly but I think the car parking there would be an issue [and yes I know there is a carpark in Gawler Place but ideally it should form part of any big high end development]. I think 88 O'Connell would work with plenty of secure underground parking and high end retail above [plus possibly hotel, apartments, cinemas etc.]

Definitely not North Adelaide. The council are due to release the Le Cornu plans this month I think? I'm very interested in what they propose given the amount of people they are trying to please at once.

I agree/accept that the one you are referring isn't for 88 O'Connell but really believe a similar concept could work very well there. With North Adelaide I would expect the council to release all the different proposals for community consultation. I would expect proposals from at least 2-3 different developers [ie C&G, Lend Lease etc]. I have heard that a contentious issue may be the height limit with some proposing 16 storeys when the guiding principles was for an 8 storey height limit. It will be interesting what the councils/community/ratepayers position will be if say the only way the council can get its money back on the land is to approve 16 storeys vs taking say many millions less [ie losing money] but allowing only 8 storeys?

To me, the only places suitable in the city for high-end luxury is North Tce between KWS and Charles St, or the GPO building — the latter ideally combined with both the Victoria Square and Market Arcade developments fully completed.

It’s the GPO as has been reported sporadically for close to a decade.

Well, it's not because GPO is to turned into a hotel which will use almost the entire GPO building with a mixture of restaurants and function spaces.

I’d have thought refurbing the old Gallerie on Gawler Place between KW St and Rundle Mall would be ideal, given the new streetscape upgrade.

Dr Marten's are advertising for staff for a Rundle Mall store. Unsure if that means a standalone or if they'll operate a concession within one of the department stores. I wonder where they'd end up if a standalone -- maybe the temporary Strandbags spot?
Also, Hype DC decals went up on the old Strandbags corner last week, confirming that move.
They've bashed quite a bit of the old façade away at City Cross, so once Hype moves I think we'll see quite extensive changes.

I note that they are refitting the old BNKR store on the cnr of Pultney and Rundle Mall - maybe that's where the Dr M's place will be
