I read that as "The owners names include me ... "

Was down the bay couple weeks back and it looked like some activity has commenced on the vacant site

Yes it is now under construction. Funnily enough the sign on site said retail tenancies avialable from September 2012. they must be keen to get a move on with this one.

I guess it makes sense to have the tenancies available coming into summer - peak season at the bay.

Maybe. There's a couple of homes being built high-up in the eastern suburbs at the mo - $10m & $14m each. The owners' names elude me at present. Father & Son i believe...
Yes, the On the Run chaps, if memory serves.
correct. the name just popped into my head - it's the Shahin family.

3 Burnalta Crescent is the new one: google map (when it launches click into 45degree view if it does not do so by default). This mansion is reported as having a 50m wide frontage. I don't think it's that big - but close enough!

They also own the Sandcastle at 10 iFould Ave nearby: google map (same as above re 45degree view).

here's an old adelaidenow article, circa 2009.

Historic red rattler tram heads back to Glenelg

#327 Post by Port Adelaide Fan » Wed Sep 12, 2012 7:14 pm

Historic red rattler tram heads back to Glenelg after Holdfast Bay Council finally committed to the project

A HISTORIC red rattler tram will be saved and put on permanent display at Glenelg after Holdfast Bay Council finally committed to the project last night.

The tram will be installed at ground level with a protective canopy near the Buffalo Restaurant in Wigley Reserve, after a 10:2 council vote.

The project, originally approved last September following a community campaign to save the 1929 H-class tram, was put in jeopardy last month when councillors were informed the cost had blown out from $65,000 to $135,000, leaving the tram at risk of being dismantled.

I must be stupid but I can't understand how it could cost so much to simply aquire a tram that was going to be scrapped (surely zero cost there), transport it to Glenelg (we're talking about hiring a truck for half a day max, so let's be very generous and allow $1000 for that), and placing it on the ground, perhaps building a concrete pad and some sort of low level fence or steps or whatever, maybe even a bit of landscaping and maybe even a sign to put next to it explaining its history (let's be generous again and allow $10,000 for that).

Total by my very generous estimate can't be more than $11,000. By a more sensible estimate using competitively priced contractors we're probably talking no more than $5000. Am I wrong?

Should've put in Moseley Square, to be honest.

I am not sure if Moseley square is such a good area to put it, I like the open grassed
area near the jetty. However I believe that somewhere closer to the heat of Glenelg would
have been good, maybe near The Beachouse.
