The artists impression at the bottom of the state site shows the motorway and "surface roads" are all at grade through Pym Street (and shows only left-in/left-out). It might only require one or two more houses to be acquired to make space to put slip lanes to do left-in, left-out AND straight on underneath (without right turns). That avoids a narrow subway tunnel for cyclists and pedestrians, and a pedestrian/cycle-only bridge that needs maintenance and protection from rock droppers. Perhaps someone has identified it as a potentially cheaper option (or at least worthy of consideration by tenderers).

What really grinds my gears and rattles my Knick knacks is that this road is 60kph and the bottleneck at the Southern end feels like it makes up for all the time supposedly gained. 20 minute bottleneck, kid you not.

I've noticed this week that traffic is considerably worse - 20+ minute bottleneck from the end of T2T to Henley Beach Rd.

Over time and once people work out what routes are best for them, I think it will sort itself out and the delays won't be as bad.

I was listening to a Sydney radio station this morning, and their traffic reports were reporting 8km and 10km delays on some of their roads - as crap as the bottlenecks are here it could be a hell of a lot worse.

Considering the cost of this project do you think the Govt should have acquired the Urbanstone property [and if needed a few others] to make it 3-lanes for the last 100-200m to the Brickworks?

The jump in traffic probably has a lot to do with the school term starting this week.

This week has been the first day back at school after a holiday, then drizzly at the time when people decide how they will go to work/school today. I suspect that there are a lot less walkers, cyclists and bus riders than usual. I don't know if daily statistics are available to check that theory. I live and work in outer suburbs and have noticed heavier traffic and fuller car parks this week, so it's not just the attraction of driving on the new motorway that is making heavier traffic.

"The plan" for crossing the Torrens has not been set yet, so that section would likely need to be reworked as part of the next phase. We got the Torrens Road bridge instead.

Interestingly, the Federal site also says that the project includes "tie-ins to the Torrens Road to River Torrens Project lowered motorway at Lamont Street". That's about 200m past the point where the T2T starts but is about where the trench becomes fully lowered. Read into that what you will.

The Urbanstone site has always confused me too. I drove past a few weeks ago and it looks like they have also done some further renovations to the building too. You would think that they wouldn't be spending much $$$ on the building knowing its ultimate fate but I guess that could be years off yet.

I’ve heard rumours in the past that as the site is so big & prominent and supposedly the owner/s live overseas and they wanted/had it valued at $10m + ? I also remember one year it was used before the state election, not sure if it was Labour or Liberal or the purpose?
