Why has the WACA been locked in? That ground is a disgrace, more like a suburban VFL ground than the main cricket stadium in a city of >1.5 million people.

Q. When the new stadium at Burswood is finished, will some/any international cricket fixtures be transferred there?

Only thing I can think of re the WACA is that the timezone is better for TV audiences in India hence more $ for broadcasters.

Not just Indian audiences, but Aussie too. Each day's final session is perfectly in prime-time (6:30pm-8:30pm) in the eastern states, so Channel 9 loves it.

I don't think there's been any official announcement, but the general consensus seems to be that Perth is safe because of the timezone, hence the Adelaide v Brisbane battle for the final guernsey.
It's = it is; its = everything else.
You're = you are; your = belongs to.
Than = comparative ("bigger than"); then = next.

Of course, didn't even think of that.

I think Perth has been announced, without the reason being made clear, so it is definitely down to Adelaide v Brisbane with the main issues being better attendances/redeveloped and bigger ground in Adelaide vs. the effect of Brisbane missing a test match on the financially dire state of cricket in Queensland.

Great photo, Matt.
Saw it, or one very similar, earlier while browsing the #gocrows hashtag. Is that where you may have spotted it?

Obstructed views? the new Yankees stadium in NYC has some shockers thanks to eye-height hand-rails:(
I really hope our new Oval fails miserably to make it onto this thread:

Big infrastructure investments are usually under-valued and & over-criticized while in the planning stage. It's much easier to envision the here and now costs and inconveniences, and far more difficult to imagine fully the eventual benefits.

That's the one, many thanks! I was hunting under "Adelaide Oval" rather than #gocrows or #crowval

There's an outstanding proposal for the WACA, yet to be funded; involved commercial and residential development around the oval, quite intrusive but certainly an improvement of what currently stands.

Yeah that'll go down real well when someone smashes it for six.

It's incredible to think there's going to be an ashes test match at Adelaide Oval in less than 4 months. I know it's supposedly ahead of schedule, but there's still a lot of work to go. The roof is only about 25% completed; the surface is still very much a construction site'; the left side of the southern stand isn't even finished yet; the majority of the seats haven't been installed.

Especially if they think they can get 5,000 people into the eastern stand.

Gee, not a lot of activity in this thread!

Couple of photos I took today. Southern stand top tier finally completed on the left hand side.

Nice pic, got a feeling it'll be pretty dark up in the back of the top tier. From the pic you can see the roof blocks off the light tower and I haven't really seen any evidence yet that there'll be much lighting back up there. I dunno, maybe I'm worrying over nothing.

Is this still ahead of schedule? Most of the works on the western stand seem to be around 90% done.
