In the O-Bahn topic, the discussion is straying over airport topics, so I am just bringing up the airport side of it here, rather than go too far off the O-Bahn subject.

In particular, the O-Bahn discussion referred to the poor infrastructure at the airport for buses, and the poor impression it gives visitors who use public transport.

The main problem is that while car users get dropped off near the lift, and can have enclosed access to the terminal, public transport users have a long walk exposed to the weather. This includes taxi users.

It's reminiscent of the days when Adelaide Airport used to be the last one boarding via stairs on the tarmac in all weathers.

Surely Adelaide can do better for taxi and bus users. An enclosed walkway from the terminal past the taxi rank is a fairly simple and cheap proposition. Similarly, a more substantial shelter at the bus stop itself is surely in order for South Australia's major tourist gateway. The present entry for both taxi and bus passengers is just...backward.
At the moment, buses need to travel a long way after stopping at the bus stop to get back to Sir Donald Bradman Drive. The route buses take is shown in the following map.

Existing.png

It's needlessly long because buses need to drive around another two roundabouts. The easiest solution is to simply move the bus stop to Atura Circuit where the taxi drop-off is located. There's enough room for both buses and taxis there. After stopping at this new bus stop, buses could return to the main roundabout on Sir Richard Williams Avenue, making the route significantly shorter, whether that's to Glenelg or the city.

Atura.png
Problem with that last option is that buses leaving the airport and trying to get back on the main roundabout will could become a bottleneck in future if there are more bus services sent to the airport over time. Since other cars coming INTO the airport will be constantly cutting across the roundabout to get to the terminal, holding all the buses up.

Not even mentioning all the future taxi traffic in that area too
If that ever becomes a problem, the roundabout could be replaced with traffic lights.

I imagine the traffic lights at Sir Donald Bradman Drive create regular gaps in the stream of traffic that would permit buses to get back onto the roundabout just as quickly as the current long loop. If the roundabout ever gets completely gummed up, then there's a traffic management problem somewhere else too.
You'd think the traffic lights would stop the flow wouldn't you. Unfortunatley, the left turn into the airport from donald bradmen drive doesn't have a traffic light and provides an almost constant flow of taxis, ubers, buses, trucks, and cars from the CBD.

Its almost impossible to try to cross sir Richard williams avenue on the southern side of sir donald bradmen drive, there is non stop movement.

Vehicles from the Atura do it now. Similarly, buses turning from Hamra Drive handle the same right of way issues ok.

Given that, I seriously doubt there's a problem. Further, if it really was a problem there are several other traffic engineering solutions. This is not a show stopper.

Never said there is a problem right now, it works fine. However as the airport gets busier and bigger in the future if they increase bus services to that pick up/drop off area in context to what the other guys are saying, there may be trouble at the roundabout with backlogs of vehicles.

Well folks have a look at the two screenshots attached here. The 10 weekly flights in 2025 that SIA is offering Adelaide won't have SQ278/SQ279 daily anymore but 5 weekly and SQ276/SQ277 5 weekly. This will be effective from 29 MAR 2025

Just as an example I chose flights on May 1st and 3rd, but you can do other searches all the way through the Southern Winter and you'll have 10 weekly all-year-round (unless more flights are added during the period OCT-JAN or OCT-MAR.

No worries about copying them. These are cropped screenshots from the Singapore Airlines website flight schedules. The SIA app on your smartphone/tablet may (will) display the results different from your desktop/laptop.

Cheers

I wonder how long this one will survive if and when it gets flying?
Will it join Bonza, Compass, Air Australia, Rex in part, and the list goes on lol, or be swallowed up by Virgin like Tiger.

Yeh seems a bit...odd..?
The logo and branding on that 737 looks like a cross between a freight company and a child care company logo, strange colour combination too.

In all honesty I wish someone would just bring back Ansett perhaps on a similar operating model to Virgin.

It reeks of something AI generated or something someone quickly knocked up on Fiverr. The logotype on the website doesn't even match what's on the plane render.

The inconsistent and blurry photos of the management team also doesn't instil a lot of confidence.

To be honest I thought is was some kind of hoax. It'd be a pretty ballsy move to start up a new carrier in Australia so soon after the Bonza and Rex fiasco.

I think Richard Branson once joked that starting up an airline is a great way to turn a billionaire into a millionaire

Adelaide Airport is forging ahead with its largest land release in more than 20 years as part of the next stage of its Airport Junction industrial and logistics hub at the eastern edge of the airport precinct.
https://www.adelaidenow.com.au/business ... ac25bedc79

Does this impact on the future 3rd runway?

https://corporate.adelaideairport.com.a ... opment.pdf
Land is reserved within the Runway, Tapleys, Terminals & Business and West Beach precincts for a future third runway. The third runway is planned to be located parallel to the main runway and on the western side
of Terminal 1. While it is not envisaged that the third runway will be required within the planning period of this Master Plan, the reserved land will be maintained and preserved for the long-term development potential for a third runway.
I thought it was going south of the main runway where this development is, but based on the 2020 doc is that saying it's north of the existing runway?
I didn't think there would be enough space between everything to fit it there.

I don't think so, the new development looks to be around the Richmond Road area, while a future runway will be to the north and west of the airport side.
