Ben wrote:Thanks for those pics. Is the one adjacent Franklin street an actual base or just pieces for the crane when it is ready?
good question

You would have to say only the one crane. They are way too close...

just drove down frankin st and saw that crane base along the street side .. thought that was it .. now I see these pics .. surely must be only the one crane in middle.

The same was said for the closeness of 20HS's cranes.

Time will tell...

Yep. The crane section next to Franklin St is just sitting there on the concrete. Looks like it will be lowered onto the crane base in the centre of the site once the concrete has been poured.

Just the one crane. However, the base is really very heavy section steel, so will be a decent sized one on the top, most likely Favco.

Massive raft pour happening right now. There's at least 5 pumps working from all angles, with concrete trucks coming from all directions. It's quite a sight!

So does this now mean our 'cranage' (great word Shuz) is now 8. (1 at the uni bldg, 4 in HSQ, 2 in KWS Sth and 1 in the precinct)? Have I missed any? Doing well on the recession so far. Must now go to the 'cranage' thread.

I counted 14 concrete trucks either coming, going or discharging into the concrete pumps. Looks to be a good project activity that appears well managed and very effective.

Drove past yesterday and the "crane base" along franklin st is not there anymore. I couldn't see where it was moved to and it wasn't moved on top of the other one either so there still could be two but not in that location along Franklin St.

The 3 section base has been moved alongside of the 2 section base installed in the foundations. I guess it will be added when the rest if it arrives one day soon. Definately 1 crane on this site at the mo.

Cheers

This will be a really significant developmnent and the decent height in the crane will give an initial impression of how these apartments will extend the CBD. With interest rates dropping hopefully the next stage is not too far off - and with shares unlikely to be attarctive to many investors maybe the property market will stay OK in Adelaide.

With the Government whinging about the lack of land supply Adelaide
and its proposed TOD should be forced to go up....

However appartments need to be roomy and well priced. If one
pays 300,000 for land a 250,000 for a really good home on a big
block in the suburbs why are 3 bedroom appartments more
than 400,000 and 2 bedroom more than 250,000 for example.

The high-rise appartment market really needs some more
builders providing more competition because at the moment S.A
individuals are getting a raw deal in relation to appartments.

It's all a matter of choice. What you miss out in size you make uf for in location,
facilities, security and maybe even a view. It's all about individual preference.

I spose high rise apartments are still a bit of a novelty in Adel, so they could get away with over the top prices for now. I do hope they come down in price, caus I want one of the 18th floor, facing east towards the skyline, right now! :D :D
From what Ive read on here though, the 2 bed aprtments have the same floor space as a 1 bed aprtment, eek. How small must that 2nd bedroom be?

I don't think inner city apartments are overpriced at all, if people are prepared to pay for these apartments at the prices on offer, then basic economics suggests they are priced at market value.
