Disgusting. How long until vandals break in (again) and start a fire? This eyesore needs to be demolished asap.

Its not a good look for a main street in a capital city. Perhaps if someone did set fire to it, the owners might finally pull their finger out and get on with the redevelopment. What is taking so long?

This is what happened with the former 'The News' building on North Terrace, was empty for years and housed squatters until one burnt it down and it very quickly was redeveloped to become The Playford.

Interesting you say that. There's an article about The Playford in Traveller (The Age/SMH).
Cheers

I noticed yesterday heading west on Grenfell, on the top of the facade on the eastern side the taggers have done some rather large art work.
Kind of like an unofficial signage for the building, not sure what the heck it's meant to say, jube or something from what I could make out of their scribble.
If it stays up long enough maybe the council can light it up at night and consider it heritage

The ground floor has been boarded up in the past 24 hours. Black painted wood over every door and window. It looks okay - it blends in with the stone.
Didn't get a chance to see if the graffiti was still there or not.

Looks horrible. They should at least remove the old signs and commission some temporary artwork on those walls.

I would rather an empty block with some grass than what's been left there. Yikes.

When I was in the England's North, they do a similar paint-job with abandoned buildings, all black on the first floor. Some streets with no occupancy were painted all black. In some of the old council housing blocks, to "beautify" them, they would paint a door and windows on to make them look more "friendly".
That will be the next step if no action is taken.
