That also shows the pickle the government is in. Any option will piss off the majority, and doing nothing will piss off everyone! They can't win.

Building a new hospital is a great idea, but not the location. As for depressing, any hospital can be that depending on how you see it (and your circumstance).Professor wrote:...Frankly I think it's a great idea and location, as well as convenient for most patients and visitors. The existing hospital is depressing, both inside and out...

Here's my idea.
Built the new RAH either:
At the Keswick Military Baracks, where there is an adjacent trainline and is in close proximity to the tramline and can also have a bus interchange created underneath/ next to it.
OR
On the land to the east of Ellis Park. It is right next to the trainline and when a station is built there, it will also give commuters the opportunity to enter the Santos Stadium, ETSA Park, etc. area. We can also extend the tramline down Sir Donald Bradman Drive and have stations at the hospital, International Sports Gateway, Mile End Homemaker Centre and then go onto that route which someone mentioned in one the Completed: Adelaide Airport Forum (I'm currently making a map of what we can do to the CBD, etc, so when I post that everyone should be able to see what I'm talking about -BTW, sorry for forgetting who posted that tramline idea).
Meanwhile, as for that AAMI Stadium Upgrade, what the Government and the power hungry, narrow minded, sons of **** SANFL need to understand is that even if we do upgrade it now, by 2018/ 2022, it will be outdated. So what we should do is wait until we either a) get the bid or b) wait until the election so that whoever gets elected will be able to sort out their priorities. We can then build the stadium on the railway yards and have it completed in time for the World Cup and hopefully by the Crows and Port will be better teams than what they are now (Port's not doing too good and I'm a Crows supporter that knows well and truly that "We do not have a Premiership Team, regardless of what anyone thinks. Anyway, that's another story...

I take back many of the things I said before 2010; particularly my anti-Rann rants. While I still maintain some of said opinions, I feel I could have been less arrogant. I also apologise to people I offended; while knowing I can't fully take much back.

For goodness sake. When will people wake up to reality? Australia is not going to come close to hosting a World Cup in either 2018 or 2022, or any time soon after that. It's pure fantasy and to invest in infrastructure for an event that isn't going to happen is stupid.adam73837 wrote:So what we should do is wait until we either a) get the bid or b) wait until the election so that whoever gets elected will be able to sort out their priorities. It's no use building a flash new hospital if we've got no doctors left!
[COM] Re: #Proposed: Marjorie Jackson Nelson Hospital - $1.7b
Yeah, can someone clarify the story for me - As I understand doctors are resigning because of the compromised standards of patient safety, but the way I see it - their resignationes will only complicate that issue furthermore? It doesn't justify their cause really.

This is starting to sound like a pathetic adelaidenow forum. Can we please keep to the topic which is the eventual construction of this hospital not possible medical strike action.

Chill out SG, this development is so far into the future anything could happen. By the way staffing the bloody thing is rather pertinent to the thread.UrbanSG wrote:This is starting to sound like a pathetic adelaidenow forum. No wilkiebarkid, if it is so far out in the future then current staffing levels aren't all that relevant either.
I find it annoying when I see a new post made on a topic in a 'development' forum only to see comments that are not related to 'development'. Starts to waste people's time. These discussions are fine in 'the pub' forum.
On a matter relevant to the actual development of this project it has been reported in The Advertiser today that Ernst and Young has won the accounting contract for this project from the State Government.

If not, they should be. They look fantastic. The grounds seem pretty big though, so there may be enough space for a large hospital development built with sensitivity to the heritage that is there. I'm not an army cadet or anything so I don't really know what's there - I've only seen it from Anzac Hwy or the rail line.Norman wrote:Aren't the Keswick Barracks heratige listed?

Well, the railway end needs to be done up... it looks really derro.

I love Adelaide United and the A-League but even I admit it is baffling how the SANFL seem to cop the brunt of peoples criticism while soccer and cricket don't. Yet the SANFL were the only sport of the three that actually built their stadium out of their own pockets, the others relying on public money. Weird.
Also, it was reported fairly recently (last 12 months) in The Advertiser how the whole AAMI Stadium development came about. The SANFL examined several sites for a new stadium after the SACA were becoming too difficult to deal with. Their preference was for a site on the inner Western side of the city. The Adelaide Council and government didn't offer any assistance and they couldn't get the land. The SANFL also tried for a stadium at Islington, but again couldn't aquire the land. They were pretty much forced to build where they did because as much as they tried that was the only place they could get. I know I'm light on specific details but my recollection is a bit hazy. It was explained in much greater detail in the article by Rucci.
You know, I don't actually blame the SANFL for looking after themselves. They are where they are financially due to good management, not goodwill.
