Happy new year, SA forum folks! Adelaide has developed and grown quite a bit in the last few years (despite the Covid situation), let's hope that momentum continues well into 2023 and beyond.

Hey, this is a weird question to ask but I was wondering if anyone here knows what the big Balfours factory out at Dudley Park used to be before they moved in? I always remember they used to be where West Franklin is and its a pretty old looking factory so clearly it’s not a new build.

Merry Christmas, fellow Adelaide building and development enthusiasts - hope everyone had a lovely time yesterday, despite the surprisingly inclement weather conditions.

I'm pretty sure it was a Spotless Linen facility for cleaning and storing linen.

I know the place you’re talking about and I don’t think it’s that one as Spotless are still in that one. The Balfours one is the red and beige building next door. I do recall hearing about there being some sort of government owned central kitchen type place back in the 70’s, but that may have just been a proposal.

Not 100% sure but think that prior to Balfours it was used by Golden Chef prior to them going into receivership

Still look to be paywalled to me. There are some types of articles on there (such as real estate ones) that are more frequently open though.
