It's interesting how those who virtue signal about how peaceful, tolerant and inclusive they are, are often the most hateful and violent....

People who claim to be "anti-war" are behaving in a belligerent fashion towards the police, police horses, the media, innocent bystanders...
Still don’t really see the correlation tbh. Acting in a “belligerent” fashion isn’t equivalent to war. Will wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2024 4:09 pmPeople who claim to be "anti-war" are behaving in a belligerent fashion towards the police, police horses, the media, innocent bystanders...
Not that hard to understand.
Being violent and aggressive towards the people attending the expo is unreasonable. Violence towards the the police is even worse.gnrc_louis wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2024 5:37 pmStill don’t really see the correlation tbh. Acting in a “belligerent” fashion isn’t equivalent to war.
Like at many protests, there are some who protest more “peacefully” and those who don’t. I’m sure the latter will be dealt with accordingly by the justice system.
I don't think it does help their cause, but then I also think most street protest - whether peaceful or otherwise, is generally ineffective in achieving change at this point in time. That said, I still support people's right to peacefully do it - regardless of whether I agree with their cause or not.SBD wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2024 11:33 pmBeing violent and aggressive towards the people attending the expo is unreasonable. These people might not support the Australian Army having access to modern technology, and might not support "Made in Australia" equipment being sold to foreign armies, but how do the scenes from Melbourne help their cause?
What I've seen from Melbourne didn't look like a "peaceful protest". I'm sure the TV camera operators and edit room set out to make it look as violent as possible, but the protesters provided the source material.gnrc_louis wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2024 11:46 pmI don't think it does help their cause, but then I also think most street protest - whether peaceful or otherwise, is generally ineffective in achieving change at this point in time. You don't see the correlation between a land systems weapon expo, said systems being for war, war obviously being violent in nature, and the people protesting against these things and presumably based on their placards protesting for the protection of civilians, resorting to violence, and at times attacking innocent bystanders and people simply going about their daily lives? There were people in that protest waving palestinian flags, people who think Israel shouldn't bomb Gaza where innocent people have been killed, who then attacked innocent people in the streets of Melbourne.gnrc_louis wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2024 5:37 pmStill don’t really see the correlation tbh. Maybe they are, but suggesting they should be shot is vicious lunacy. By all means, if someone is alleged to have commited a crime, put them through the courts.VinyTapestry849 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 13, 2024 7:35 amin this instance the people who are protesting are just lonely miserable losers who want to be part of something. They couldn't give less of a shit about Palestine or wars. They just want a reason to be angry, to protest and to cause maximum chaos.
deplorable and sad individuals who have been hurt by something/someone
Who in here asked for them to get shot bro? Though rubber bullets aren't that bad tbhrubberman wrote: ↑Fri Sep 13, 2024 7:50 amMaybe they are, but suggesting they should be shot is vicious lunacy. In the US, for example, Trump is accused of being a criminal, and is thus on trial. That's the right way. Some looney taking a pot shot to give him an ear piercing is not.
Likewise, we should use the courts.
I don’t think a whole family getting effectively vaporised by highly advanced weapons systems has much in common with a few hundred protestors being belligerent towards attendees of a conference, no.rev wrote: ↑Fri Sep 13, 2024 7:00 amYou don't see the correlation between a land systems weapon expo, said systems being for war, war obviously being violent in nature, and the people protesting against these things and presumably based on their placards protesting for the protection of civilians, resorting to violence, and at times attacking innocent bystanders and people simply going about their daily lives? Interesting.
Your people were cheering the police when they shot the lockdown protesters in Melbourne at the Shrine. They were doing nothing violent at all.rubberman wrote: ↑Fri Sep 13, 2024 7:50 amMaybe they are, but suggesting they should be shot is vicious lunacy. Show me where I ever cheered the police shooting at protesters.abc wrote: ↑Fri Sep 13, 2024 10:42 amYour people were cheering the police when they shot the lockdown protesters in Melbourne at the Shrine.
