Trains can carry more people than buses, but few railways actually do carry more people than the busiest bus lanes.

That was one of the points. Capacity is good, but if you can't get people to the track in a single seat journey you suffer virtual delays. This study found that the difference of capacity only came into play at the higher end of patronage. So on-street trams, Brisbane style bus-ways, light rail and the Obahn all had about the same score in terms of capacity serviced. Only grade separated heavy rail surpassed the other modes, and only when high patronage warranted the capacity cost.

I may have found this paper on http://www.worldtransitresearch.info which is also the place where I've derived my dislike of park and ride facilities from. So many papers... no time to look through them all now.

I think the authors included Prof Currie (MonashU), here's a slideshow from one of his lectures, http://www.infrastructureaustralia.gov. ... lVSBus.pdf it's a bit hard to follow without his narrative, but if you muddle through you'll get the idea. Bottom line mode is not a be all and end all - it's the facilities/features commonly associated with modes that are transferable which make the difference.

More new Scania CB80 buses are soon to be put on O-Bahn duty!
1849 is the first official kind of articulated bus for busway use!

When the Noarlunga line reopens in October(according to Minister Chloe Fox),and bus sub services will stop-New Scania Artic CB80 R800-R808 will go onto the O-Bahn,as will some of the rigids R850-857.

I hope they are adaptable. I'm guessing this has been engineered this way and this isn't just some afterthought with no thought?

Already one of these new Scania Artics has been introduced to service on the O-Bahn-fleet no 1849

Put the mercs (what's left of them) back onto the O'Bahn and be done with it. No bus is quite like em.

Rode R567 the other night and it sounds as good as new.

Additional O-Bahn buses will be needed from July 14 with some extra services from Paradise Interchange and Klemzig Interchange as well as extra buses on the M44 route with a new timetable incorporating longer running times.

The letter 'R' will be replaced with the number '1' when this occurs.

I believe that the Artics will be numbered 1840-1848(together with 1849).
Rigids will be 1850-?
