Thanks for the photos.
I think I quite like it at that height in that place. Not sure if I will retain that opinion by the time it's had two more stacked on top though.

I like the fact that it is set back from the street......you know so we can't really see it from ground level....
And what are the plans for the heritage buildings that front North Terrace?

I believe they're effectively just a facade at this point?

East and west faces don’t actually look too bad, though the north and south profiles are giving some serious dwell vibes..
[COM] Re: 203 North Terrace | 119m | 35 levels | Student Accom
It's natural for buildings to have their best angles, but I'm always skeptical when the one angle that it'll never look good from is the one where you're stood dead ass in front of it...

Y’all hate on my honesty so I’ll give it this. It has a colour that seems to fit into the rest of North Terrace and the sandstone vibe it has in this area.
Can it stop at this height though? Anymore and... well.
Ooop cmet don’t bring up Dwell, you’ll make the folks cranky.
The fins all the way up may elevate this but that’s only because they cover up quite a lot it.
Where does the first third end? When will we get to see that glorious black railing?

It's not leagues better than Dwell, but it is better for simply having colour and some features. But having seen this in person, the photos do it more justice than what actually exists... The transition between the heritage building and the tower proper rising out is very messy and unlikely to look any better once complete. And doesn't it bother anyone else that this isn't just a case of the materials not reflecting those shown in the renders but that the render clearly shows more windows on both the eastern and western facade and yet in the actual building we're seeing going up, they're not there? This building is a turd.

It's going up very quickly. That should give you a clue . Will be an eyesore on the skyline .

Fear not people...we haven’t been deceived with this one....the first render shown of this monolith was on page 8 of this forum...and there it shows only three columns wide of windows on the east and west farces....oops faces....and that it is exactly what is going up now....
Like many, I agree at its current height, it would probably just gain a pass mark, being somewhat sympathetic to other similar height buildings within the vicinity of it along North Tce, but stack two more of the current heights on top to get 30 plus levels, and it will definitely stand out like dogs bollocks...and most likely not in a good way, especially when compared to Realm, its closest similar height neighbour

It also blocks Realm from the angle we see in the above pics, when at full height. Shame

This building seems to match the fortunes of its long lost cousin Empire Melbourne. The designs are fairly similar and Empire had as bad a run with the enthusiasts on OzScrapers as seen here. All and sundry were shitting on that thing as it was built. I think the most memorable spray was "upmarket remand centre". By the time it was built, nobody wanted to truly admit they borderline liked it.
I don't think this building will quite match those fortunes in the end. What I said about buildings being optimised for certain angles holds true for both. However, Empre's architect was switched on and increased the number of angles by angling the fins at seemingly random but logical intervals. Result - looks better from more angles and never the same whenever you look at it. This one other other hand will always look good stood at a slight angle to the sides and farkn Scheißenhausen from the front. Pro tip, a mature london plane right in front should block that view from the street.
