I think it needs more than more new cladding to fix this centre.

The literally replaced the canopy only five years ago... Not sure how you address the appearance of the centre externally without having to reclad the entire building including the clock tower on North Terrace but I am surprised the new owners have done virtually nothing with this building since they bought it.

I suspect the replacement of the cladding and awning over the Rundle Mall side has been triggered due to the cladding on the lower couple of levels being found to be combustible aluminium composite panels.
There's been quite a few cladding replacement jobs triggered by the recent swath of risk assessments as a result of the Grenfell Tower disaster in London.

Article on AdelaideNow today about the new Rebel Sport store. On track to open before Christmas, and confirmation that the Myer Centre store will close. No decision on the City Cross store.

Surely not allowed to butcher a heritage facade like that (I know it’s just paint but still)?

Was going to say the same thing before I scrolled down and saw your post. Yep, butchered the absolute hell out of it. Not just the paint but the awning as well. Hopefully something of the original is under whatever crap they have attached to the ground floor facade.

Renovation work on the Railway Station Kiosk has commenced.
So they're expanding into the former newsagent which has been an empty void since 2015.

C'mon peeps, not quite sure what the problem is re Rebel Sport. Some dark paint and you all getting in a tizz! In the current climate i'd be happy if I owned that building.
As if that stupid flag will actually happen, it's only a render. Chill out
