Wow, my jaw dropped a little there
Great picture. Can't wait to be one of the people flooding through there for a game of footy.

Sell out, no doubt. It's logistics will be exclusively tailored to that one show.

WOW. Speechless ...

I would have expected some uplighting of the curved roofline to highlight what will be an iconic roof form. Does anyone know if this will be happening?

I would assume on game days the oval lighting will provide ample light for the stand? Otherwise not so sure..

They really look out of place and don't even do the job they're supposed to do - tie in the historical elements of the back of the stand - well. They should have left the history to the back and the cricket change rooms and 50 year member areas where they've incorporated actual parts of the old stands, rather than tried to mimick them. They look great. The side and front facing bricks however, really don't. Hopefully they've got some spare cash and the inclination to render over them.

I otherwise think the western stand holds up really well and won't date quickly at all.

As for the development on the whole, it's amazing. I'm a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to cricket and was worried that the special feel of AO might be destroyed, but I made it down to the Shield game for a while over two days and think they've done a really good job of keeping AO unique at the same time as modernising it and turning it into more of a stadium.
Agreed on those points there.
I drove past AO tonight after gym, the southern stand was all lit up, awesome was the only word to describe it, and even better that we've got the Rolling Stones along with the Showdown to look forward to, bring it on!

I'm under 30 and I'm going.

Pretty sure their Hyde Park concert attracted a very mixed crowd.

That's a great idea and I hope it's what they are doing!
