Don't forget peeps, tomorrow the Southern Stand will be partially open for a look-see during the Shield game. Free entry, as always for Shield cricket. Entry via the Plaza (exciting in itself). Seating level 1 (red seats) and the Peter Carey and Neil Kerley bars on level 3 will be open 10am-5pm.

Some happy snaps from inside would be brilliant if anyone is going.

How is the bridge getting on?

Would they get 70,000 to see the rolling stones next year ?

I read in the paper there was only 28,000 at the last Rolling stones concert in Adelaide.

28,000 at Football Park, what stage configuration etc was that?

My calculations:
Western stand at 80% - 14,000, Eastern same - 14,000.
Southern at full - 16,000. That's 44,000 in itself, plus however many people you can put on the playing field. Using the hill as a guide, they say that's 2,000, then I'd say 12,000 more = 56,000. 70,000 might be a stretch IMO. I reckon 70,000 could be achieved if they had a stage in-the-round so they could use 100% of the seating = 53,000 plus 17,000 on the field.

So I went down to have a look today. Unfortunately, I couldn't get to level 3, because it was for SACA members only. Typical SACA

Anyway, from the Southern Gate, there's an open area:

This is on the left, the new Adelaide Oval museum & Bradman Collection

Food & Drink on the right:

All of the signs showing the aisles have screens on them. Not sure if they'll show tv feed or information during the games, though:

The view out the front of the stand. Still quite a bit to go on the lowest level:

All the hotdog carts have been replaced with these more upscale carts. I counted about half a dozen there:

and what the stand looks like from the front:

From what I saw, it was quite impressive, just didn't get to see as much as I would've liked :wallbash:

yeah I was equally pissed off that it was advertised to come down an have a look at the new southern stand yet if you weren't a SACA member you couldn't even go up the escalator to see the 2nd tier. Truly pathetic

What's the curved building on the left of the south plaza (as you face the Oval) for?

My father and I are not SACA members but were allowed in. We are Adelaide Oval football members. So it wasnt just SACA.

The one to the right of the tennis courts with the steps?

I've been wondering this as well.

No, I meant the one actually on the plaza, between the plaza and the tennis courts (I think Henwii knows which I mean).
