Err, because WOMAD is only a couple of hundred metres away, and smooth urban sounds clash with roaring engines, low flying jets, and post race concerts.
WOMAD could easily swap its dates with Clipsal so it clashes with Soundwave (differing target audience to Soundwave so there shouldn't be too many dramas) and Future Music could clash with the 'new' Clipsal weekend seeing as the Future Music is now held on the Western Park-lands.
Future Music is also on the Monday (I'm guessing it will remain the Monday in future years?) so there will actually be no clashing. Will just make a very long busy weekend for those interested in both.

Future music, soundwave and the clipsal are all part of national tours. the weekends have to fit in with the national dates. WOMAD is exclusive to Adelaide and therefore could be shifted to suit. During the last weekend the music from Soundwave, actually exceeded the noise from Clipsal some 10km away from the CBD. It would seem therefore that only WOMAD is sensetive to noise the others being at least as noisy as each other and it is the logical choise to move dates. As for Clipsal, well going by last weekends attendance it is more popular than the others put together, so it should call the shots in any sheduling, but to their credit, they have tried to fit.

Only if you shift the long weekend with it.

WOMAD should be moved to a completely different time of the year so Adelaide can start spreading its events out a bit instead of just compressing everything into March? Same goes for the Adelaide Festival. Why can't some of these be moved to spring and early summer instead...

Adelaides Spring weather is problematic, as the organisers of the previous Grand Prix will tell you. The only long weekend is early October, usually cold and wet or if warm it is very windy. In Novermber?..., well if last year was anything to go by, it will either be 40degC or snowing! Really, has the clash ever really posed any earth shattering problems? With the completion of a few more hotels like the Ibis, accomodation should be easily catered for in future, ditto the public transport once we get some trains back on. In reality as others have pointed out, all these attractions will rarely attract the same type of patros anyway, so some smart timetabeling, even the noise should not pose a problem.

Why move festivals and events which are hugely successful as they are? Wouldn't a better option be to create or bring over even more festivals and events?
We are the Festival State after all...we should be having big festivals throughout the year, not just predominantly in March.

Wonder what Paul Pruszinkski's issue was?

You're not old enough. Please find another thread to comment in.
I don't mean Apple, which was Church which the Synagogue which was a synagogue. I mean the building on the corner of Flinders and Pulteney that was a church or something and has been a nightclub on and off since the 1980s. Most recently where they tried to rebirth Heaven (which was on West Tce
).

Getting your wires crossed me thinks. I can't recall St Pauls ever being branded as Church, only the old Synagogue which is now Apple Bar.
