It was already decided I thought that the bridge would have corporate naming rights reserved for the highest bidder. But even doing so wouldn't be enough to recoup the costs of maintaining the bridge.

A 'walk of fame' would be excelllent. Who can name the 28 current inductees? Bringing these names front & centre in everyone's mind as they meander towards a game at AO would be good for SA on many levels.
From AdelaideNow back in Nov 2011
A "walk of fame" tribute will line the path to the new-look Adelaide Oval.
The display is planned to recognise greats inducted in the national Hall of Fame who identify as South Australian - including cricket champion Sir Donald Bradman and horse trainer Bart Cummings.
Transport and Infrastructure Minister Pat Conlon said the State Government would try to include the 28 inductees of the SA sport's Hall of Fame in the development.
"We have a bridge that will span from the hub of the city's public transport, across what will become the heartbeat of Adelaide with the revitalisation of the Riverbank Precinct, through to the home of sporting greats," Mr Conlon said.
Mr Conlon yesterday signed the construction contract with builder Baulderstone for Adelaide Oval, paving the way for preliminary works to begin.

Not sure if this report's been posted before.
Design masterplan for the bridge and surrounds... a few images and details I hadn't seen before.

I think the bridge is relatively underrated in terms of its impact on the city.
The grand steps, the southern water feature and landscaping, the bistro/bar, the terrace, the belvedere, the waterfall, the amphitheatre, the wooden boardwalk...
More than just a bog standard pedestrian bridge. Will make a massive impact on the precinct and hopefully become a bit of a landmark in its own right.

The question is will it float! I too feel the bridge is being a bit underrated, it will be one of the largest catalysts for the river bank to hopefully get some more private interest / people to the Torrens. The connections and accessibility it will create for "pedestrians" to get to the oval is paramount to the ovals success. As for naming rights and so forth, if it helps to pay for the upkeep and can be done in a way which isn't overly intrusive then all the better. Good to see the speedy timeline for construction as well, however I do hope it wont be plagued by any delays out of the government/contractors control.

A pleasently surprising optimistic article from indaily. I might use this crane in the crane statistics if no one disagrees?
Working on water down at the Torrens
Thursday, 2 May 2013
Nicole Shotton
WALK through Adelaide’s city centre and you’ll spot more cranes than churches – but one of them stands out. One that floats on water.
One may ask how a 90-tonne crane is able to work in such a location without tipping or sinking.
McConnell Dowell South Australian Operation Manager Jim Miller explains that the crane, a conventional land crawler, is sitting on a barge, which also serves as a fully-equipped workspace for the crew building the Torrens footbridge.
“You must engage with naval architects to asses the stability of the pontoons with the crane onboard, and that then tells you for your certain size steel pontoons what size crane you can put on there,” Miller said.
“And then off you go: you just put the crane on the barge and you can use the crane on water.”
The barge is made from a set of steel pontoons measuring 24 metres long by 19 metres wide, which holds the $600,000 crane as it sits afloat on the River Torrens.
The barge doesn’t only house the crane but also features an amenities office, ablution block, lifebuoys, piling hammer and tools, control station and a transfer vessel.
“We basically set up as such so it can be its own workplace,” Miller said. “So it has shedding on there for crew so the blokes don’t have to come off the barge to take their smoko and lunches – it’s set up as like a self-contained work area.”
Assisting in the $40 million dollar construction of the Adelaide Oval Footpath Bridge, this 36-metre high floating crane glides across the river as needed by winches and mooring lines.
The crane is owned by Maritime Construction. General Manger Simon Giessaus explains that while barge cranes are quite common the company only owns three.
“One of them is being used down the Torrens, the other one is located in the port and the other one is located in Western Australia working on the Elizabeth Keys Waterfront Redevelopment” he told Indaily.
