Looks to be designed by Elenberg Fraser, do we know the Architect yet?

Spectacular. Don't want to speak too soon, but thrilled this looks to actually be happening.

They've recently trimmed back staff numbers to below trend which makes 'running the business' appear more profitable to potential buyers...
Good I hope they do sell. Adelaide needs either Crown or Echo to take over the licence and give this city a true sophisticated casino and entertainment complex that will create new jobs, boast the economy and bring more tourists to SA.

However.. I will admit I am impressed with these renders, especially with the ground floor frontage and the sexy curvy glass exterior.

I've also heard from an ex employee of the casino that Skycity are looking to sell the casino.

I couldn't see Crown coming in though. I went to the cas on thursday night and it was pretty quiet.
It seems to me that all the poker machine players in Adelaide go to the suburban pubs rather then the casino.
It's more convenient and easier in terms of parking.

I think Crown would be an ideal buyer of Skycity as it would give them Adelaide, Darwin and Auckland, NZ - all markets they are not in.
I also think the old RAH site (near Rundle St) could be the ideal location for a Crown resort/entertainment hub/casino/ apartments/theatres/cinemas/shopping/dining etc
The current footprint of the casino even with the new hotel seems too small/limited for the long term.

Are SkyCity selling all three, or just Adelaide though?

Skycity is listed on the Stockmarket and if Packer (Crown) wanted to launch a takeover he could start buying shares and announce a bid. A few years ago Crown owned around 15% of Echo (Jupiters, Star Sydney) & could always buy back in also.

That's good news, but won't mean anything until there is a crane on-site .... they could just be including an approved DA to boost the price of the casino sale (if some of the rumours in the above posts are correct).

SkyCity managing director Nigel Morrison wants to start Adelaide Casino $300m expansion in February 2016.

ADELAIDE Casino wants to start construction of its $300 million expansion in February, clearing a major obstacle to the long-awaited Riverbank redevelopment.

Outlining timeframes for the first time publicly, SkyCity managing director Nigel Morrison said he hoped earthworks for the luxury hotel complex would start in February and major construction in September.

Mr Morrison said the project, if approved by the Development Assessment Commission, was expected to be completed by the end of 2018.

The Casino expansion is a linchpin of the nearby $610 million Festival Plaza upgrade, which includes a 24-storey office tower, restaurants, bars, shops and a 1560-space underground carpark.

New Zealand-based SkyCity, the Casino’s parent company, revealed concept designs last month and recommitted to the project, which includes the 80-room hotel overlooking the River Torrens, gaming suites for international VIP players and signature restaurants.
How the luxury suites will look inside the new SkyCity casino.

In an interview marking the Casino’s 30th anniversary on Saturday, Mr Morrison said construction costs would be reasonable because it was happening during a relative lull after major projects such as the nearby Adelaide Oval and new Royal Adelaide Hospital.

This goes before the DAC on Thursday. Their report is below. Surprisingly this building is 87m high. That makes it almost the same as the Intercontinental?
