One could dream, any chance of Foodland and Dan Murphys in the new arcade?
Dan Murphy would be more likely attached to Woolworths or an ALH pub.

I know of at least one Drake's Cellarbrations bottleshop attached to the adjacent supermarket.

Dan Murphy's relies on volume and easy car access, doesn't seem a good fit for a site like this.

The types of people who have either never visited the Markets or have visited briefly once or twice and don’t actually understand of how the place operates. Coles leaving has presented the Markets with a big opportunity to reintroduce the types of retailers that left the site previously that can fill the void of the small goods that supermarkets tend to lure customers in with.

Supermarkets complement this type of market though. You get the boring shop done and avoid their produce and meat sections - that's when the market proper kicks in.

I work in the CBD 5 mins from central market. I want more alcohol selection and a good supermarket like Foodland. I believe Mel has a cbd Dan Murphy's. With the new arcade, the demand may be greater to justify a DM.
*Looks at Dyson Airblade Factory* "I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit, it's the only way to be sure"

I'd prefer an independent store like Belair Fine Wines, but you take what you can get

I imagine the Vintage Cellars will return after the development, it was a great fit.

I would really hope a Drakes or Foodland move into this development as the main supermarket.

If there's gonna be a large supermarket then one of those like the Frewville or Pasadena stores seems like it would be ideal. But then I wonder if having too fancy a supermarket in the Central Markets would seem to cannibalize the audience of the rest of the markets. For myself the Coles was always a place to get random supplies and bits and pieces that weren't available in the market proper.

After pressing ICD on what is going on with this project, they have said on their linked in page that demolition will occur after May or from mid year. I feel this this is extremely far behind what the public was told originally and that will mean this prime central site will be dormant for over 12 months.

As bad as that is, I'm relieved to hear some kind of timeline.
