Average news reports, not surprised by the negative comments considering this is one unique design.

This is going to be one controversy project, as its design has never been seen in Adelaide and in some ways pretty rare for Australia. However this is just going to make a major impact on our skyline and will definitely become a major icon for Adelaide (especially lit up at night :D). Though to make it more of a attraction for Adelaide, the developers should look at making the top floor a restaurant or something for the public, the glass elevators would be a attraction alone.

Firstly, I've never seen so much excitement EVER on this forum in my 11months of involvement so far Sure hit the nerve with this building - and why not!
It has brought us out into the public arena - more exposure of what we think of this city - that people really do care about and support the place - not all bagging everything. :D :D

Next, now that we are being recognised by such as David (Keepadelaidedalive) and the DAP and we understand this site is being valued enough to be perused by people who can do some of the things we speak of, we have reached another level - I believe professionalism in the use of all the threads will help our credibility and exposure more. There is no telling who is reading and what impression we are leaving on those we wish to influence.

Finally, I've lost the quote function to the posts - can't access it (what a menace). Urban - thanks for the input architecturally speaking. Yes, you are right in saying we are dangerously close to the cantilever being a gimmick - it is a matter of how we like to interpret it - there is no sayimg which way public opinion will swing in 'conservative' Adelaide. I for one think it is excitingly close to internatinal architectural levels at their finest. Right out of the box/square - excellent! :D :D

In regards to the media reports, far and away the worst reporting prize goes to The Advertiser. I mean a small blurb in the paper and on the AdelaideNow site just doesn't cut it. They made such a big deal about it previously and then this. I am not sure, maybe they are planning a more comprehensive report tomorrow or later but really they need to get their act together.

The best reporting goes to ABC 7pm news last night. They broke the story straight away and did a god job with renders etc.

The two commercial channels that reported, well what do you expect? Typical bad street journalism. Lets ask this random here on the street corner and if there is a positive comment, we can delete it.

I would love to know how the possible tenant discussions have gone so far. I am guessing this will be a lengthy process but who knows. Look forward to the day we get an announcement for a major tenant. The approval announcement takes the cake though at the moment.

you've got that all wrong, skyliner - this site has recognized me, I've been coming to it for 2 years. Anyhow, you guys have the vision that will throw Adelaide into the future and you need to realise how much influence you actually have.

This development is the biggest news Adelaide's had for a long time, and I hope that it maintains the momentum.

And the media's just driving up hype. When the building's up it will be one of the most popular and talked about icons in the city.

Wow, can't believe something so "radical" for Adelaide was actually approved! I must say I am concerned by the reported attitude of Judith Brine towards this, but on the other hand it is incredible to hear that this site was talked about. That is truly a credit to everyone involved here and a testament the quality of discussion.

Interesting to hear that the neighbouring property has been/us being acquired. Is there a possibility that this could be resubmitted with a larger floorplate and/or taller height?

Now we just have to wait until they break ground! :D

I'm not 100% sure but the neighbouring property in Gilbert Place which was acquired is a local heritage place. The reason why it was acquired was so the developers would not have to pay compensation to the tenats whilst construction was being undertaken, something which could last 24 months.

Now, that's a smart move!

Cheers

I'm worried with this $100m figure, does this mean that cheap glass is going to be used?

Actually quite the opposite. The council was very impressed with the high quality of materials chosen for this project.

Sorry David, I have only been on the site 11 months, and have not noticed your name till recently. Still, it does not remove the idea that I was putting forward of having influence and arranging posts with those in mind who could
take notice.

May I add I was greatly impressed to see someone who was interested in what this site generally represents being interested in local politics.'KeepAdelaideaiive' is an excellent name to ecapsulate your ideas. As you knowI am an ardent Adelaide supporter - and have been for over 35 years. (Unfortunately I am in Brisbane at present).

Looking forward to reading more of your posts.

Does anyone know who is the engineering company involved in this project?

Or have any been approached?
