Rundle Street should become a pedestrian mall. At least between Frome Road and East Terrace.

Some work is happening on the 5th Floor of the Myer Centre.

King Kang's Pool Room is now being gutted after a few decades since Dazzeland closed its doors.
For starters, my avatar is the well-known Adelaide Aquatic Centre insignia from 1989.

I'd make Rundle Street a one way 25kph single lane road with a few 10 min loading zones for businesses that need vehicle access for deliveries and the like, with that lane closed off in evenings and for occasions. Probably just between Frome St and East Terrace at least to start.

All single level so that the existing businesses can easily use the extra space for permanent street dining expansion.

Same for Hindley St, at least between KW and Morphett.

Really good article talking about the benefits of reducing cars on our shopping streets with some great interactive photo examples. Why not close off the entire length of hindley and rundle from west terrace to Dequetteville Terrace with maybe some low speed one way access for deliveries, access to hotels etc. This could become a long wide tree lined pedestrian boulevard.

Slight problem would be access to the multi level carparks. It wouldn't be an insurmountable problem if you were determined to find a solution, but would probably be enough to deter the council/state government.

Adelaide City Council's UPark on Rundle has significant structural issues, so it is likely that ACC will try and offload this property as a development site (i.e. existing car park to be demolished).

That leaves just Centrepoint on the other side of Rundle Street.

Yeah - will be v good to have an IGA in the West of CBD - the supermarket is an L shape so a relatively narrow frontage but larger area inside

Here’s hoping it’s actually managed well. The IGA on Gilbert Street is appalling. Always under stocked with goods, and really dinge.
