I was at Semaphore when the Semaphore Music Festival was on a few weeks ago, and naturally the entire area was packed. People everywhere, including out on the jetty and lining up for the water slides and the train. And... hardly anyone on the carousel. Just a few very young kids who obviously have been plonked on a horse so their parents can watch them. If it can't get people to ride it amidst a busy festival, what hope does it have in Rundle Mall with even less young children about?

No one was suggesting to build a ferris wheel in the mall , though there was once a small ferris wheel ontop of the Renaissance Tower decades ago...

Giant ferris wheels are so last decade anyway, though it would be nice if a 50m temporary observation wheel was set up along the Riverbank or somewhere in the city area similar to other Australian cities. At the moment I think Adelaide is the only major city without one, which is a shame because it would be a great tourist attraction with stunning views.

when you talk to people about coming to Adealide, there is no tourist things to do in the Actual CBD, it is all about landing in the airport and heading off to the wealth of experiences the State has.

If we could provide more reasons to stay in the city for an extra night or two we would be reaping more of the economic benefits of the toursists coming over (with the understanding that there is a finite amount of money of course).

I think making the link between the botanic gardens, Rundle street and Rundle Mall through to the Riverbank more pedestrian friendly would help - how that happens with our road system is anyones guess!!!

The ACC is and has been spending several millions of dollars on both Rundle Street and North Terrace to do just exactly that!

so no there probably isn't, The link between the botanic garden entrance on North Terrace and Rundle Mall is at best disjointed

we should seriously consider making it more different to any other street mall in australia and concider building around the mall's slogan 'uniquely rundle mall'.
