Seemingly people are getting carried away with this new oval business... Sure, we have a new oval; doesn't mean people (especially members) should stop everything they're doing at the drop of a hat and excessively admire the ground - that wasn't an expectation before the redevelopment (which the old AO was just as beautiful) why should it be any different now? I pay my annual fee's and as a result I was able to attend the Ashes test, worth every dollar for that one test if you ask me.
Wrong end of stick me thinks, Patrick.
People weren't decrying the members' non-attendance exactly. They were saying how having the members' area "empty" when general admittance people were being turned away is not a good look.
However that Striker's match may be an anomaly due to the tail end of the kids' holidays, the tram was full of families that night. I bet on a regular work/school day not as many could be bothered.

There's 5000 seats that the General public would have loved to sat in! CA will be furious especially as the seats are going for $100 each on level 5!
The Western stand was 80 per cent empty for the last Strikers game on Wednesday night too! Pretty pathetic really. The General admission areas were sold out for all four Strikers games but the members let the crowds down for the last two Strikers games.
Given the prices SACA Members pay for their membership for what they get (4 BBL games, 1 test and 1 ODI - the Sheffield Shield is free for everyone so that doesn't really count in the value of the membership), I'm surprised at the very high no-show rate by the SACA members this summer.
As a member, if you attended 3 days out of the test and sat in the upper tiers of the southern stand you have basically paid for your members ticket. Everything else is a bonus.

That's right. I wasn't having a go at members who don't turn up...would be hypocritical of me since as a Port member I can't always make it to games(but I always give my members cars to a mate or family who want to go).
I understand sometimes life just gets in the way.
Which is why I made the suggestion I did.
Obviously for a regular footy game it won't be necessary. But for big events I think something like that would be beneficial.

Hopefully there is aircon in those glassed sections, because the sections(at the back) with glass in the western and southern stands are pretty uncomfortable.
Not that you spend much time there, unless you are waiting for the lifts.

Great in winter no doubt, though...

I went past there on the weekend, while it is coming together I still don't see it being finished in 5 weeks.

Do you remember what the southern stand looked like 5 weeks prior? Eastern stand looks better imo

This is the most relevant photo I could find.
This is exactly 2 months before the first test.

And a couple more shots from the 13th November, only 3 weeks before the test.
They still had a truck load to do and they achieved it with a few days to spare.

so they're putting in the red seats now on level 3 of the eastern stand and it's looking really good but it seems like the seats in the middle are a darker red than the rest? Is this some sort of members thing? It kind of looks a bit mismatched at the minute but of course it's not done yet so we'll have to wait for the finished result. Here's a pic of it I found on the Adelaide oval instagram tag

I really like that theyve stuck with the red seat contrast all the way round. does anyone know if the red tier in the eastern stand will also be members only for cricket matches?

The darker red seats are the Audi Stadium Club seats. They are padded and have cup holders.
