As is predictable in Adelaide's Big Country Town Mentality, it is unfortunately going to be a clash of ideals (pro-car vs pro-pedestrian) rather than facts or proven science that will determine the final outcome of the upgrade.

— Find a business owner (even if they're not even in the area in question), convince them the sky will fall if anything happens to their street parks
— Then use them as the example of a "concerned business owner"
— Completely ignore all the stakeholder engagement and masterplanning done by council staff, the one anecdotal example outweighs all of that
— Act belligerent in council meetings, with a few choice phrases like "anti-car", and "bike agenda"
— Cry foul when other councillors shut you down, because they've had to sit through that nonsense multiple times before
— Parlay the "persecution" to social media

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide City Council
Finally footpath “renewal”. It’s not being touted as an upgrade but atleast the footpath will be consistent and level and it’s starting imminently.
It’s only a small section. Hopefully it’s extended from King William to Pulteney as the whole section needs redoing.

Why are we doing this?
We are renewing sections of Grenfell Street between Register Lane and Hyde Street (South Side) and Imperial Lane to Adelaide Arcade (North Side).
This project is undertaken to address safety concerns such as trip hazards, ensure the footpaths meet modern accessibility standards and improve the overall amenity of the area.
What are we doing?
Key elements of the project include:
Renewing sections of flagstone pavers with new charcoal flagstone pavers
Adjusting service pit levels to match the paving for safety, accessibility and aesthetics
Regrouting and repairing existing pavers to address trip hazards
Modifying the intersection of Gawler Place to improve pedestrian access and movement
When are we doing it?
Works will be undertaken after hours and is expected to commence in April and be completed by end July 2025.
