on another note, does anybody know when the wetlands and mist fountain will be done as it was i think was in the federal govs budget 2 years ago, surely that would be almost ready to be started soon
I'm pretty certain that was scrapped as part of budget cuts.

Not that I would want Luna Park back in Adelaide. It's very old-fashioned. However I certainly would like to see something fun in Adelaide. However I haven't seen any suggestion that anyone is even thinking of building any serious tourist attractions here. Have I missed something?

Darian Hiles recommends a "...modern hi-tech Luna Park with large displays..." for Festival Plaza, with galleries/eateries below. A lot can change in 10 years but kids/gamers seem more inclined to do their thing at home rather than gaming parlours. Rides/rollercoasters could work but I doubt they'd be approved for that site.

So, the wooden boardwalk and the stepped amphitheatre are suddenly missing from the most recent renders.
Assume they've been scrapped to save money.
Can anyone shed some light?
A shame, because the boardwalk looked great and would help people other than the occasional pedal boater actually engage with the river.

Looks like the boardwalk is still a part of the masterplan:

Loved that rainy day picture from the last page - an unusual promo shot indeed.

cruel_world00: I meant the wooden deck bit on the arc of the river created by the bridge.
This and the stepped/seated amphitheatre seem to be gone from the most recent pic.

I think our biggest lost came when Dazzleland closed:

Dazzleland + Lego Land + a modern Luna Park and Adelaide would have it all.

I'd still hate to have a Luna Park (tacky, old-fashioned, expensive, and I just hate the name) in Adelaide, but I agree with the main point you're making.
