so out of the 3 100m+ proposals of last decade, only 1 gets through? or were there other 100m+ proposals earlier in the decade that got cancelled? Oh well, at least its 1 instead of none.

This should make a big difference to the skyline.... Quite often I drive up Rundle Road towards
rundle street and get disappointed that I can't see any decent size buildings, this building will fix
that problem....

Harris Scarfe is now closed? When did this happen.

They're not. The fire alarm was going crazy this morning and they were shut all day due to their roof leaking which caused an 'electrical' problem.

LOL yes, false alarm in both senses of the word. That'll teach me to update from my phone. Sorry everyone. (Axel's are still having a "demolition sale" however)

There were a lot of places that had water damage from the rain yesterday. One of the cinemas in the East End was closed from water damage.

The skyline doesn't interest me as much as the street-level, especially along Rundle Mall. Do we have any images of what we're getting? (I'm betting - more floor-to-ceiling glass) Am I right to think that we're still losing an alley?

No, we are not losing an alley. Furthermore the development recognises the importance of the alleys and is indeed proposing to have retail tenancies that front onto the alleys.

But still no official word on the final design? Or has there been a decision that I've forgotten?

From David's newsletter:
Council agreed to proceed with the revocation of community land at 90-100 Grenfell St as provided for under Sec194 of the Local Government Act to enable its sale. This is the site of the Grenfell St UPark car park.
I wonder if it has anything to do with this project?

Nothing would be better than to kill crush destroy this tired, badly designed and broken old structure. But, there's been several press releases that show the old car park not only staying but being connected at the top floor to a car park extension on the roof of the new retail structure.

There have? The public consultation plans had no expansion of the car park at all.
