Apple was started in a garage. Central to entrepreneurship is the idea, not the building it's in. A proposed land use for the site which is part ridiculous, part bizarre. Frankly, I think they just wanted to get anything in there so they could justify paying the upkeep on the heritage buildings. There's no vision here at all.

Just thought I’d let it be known, but what we have seen so far is by no means the whole development, just the front part. There is still the land at the back of the site that has to be demolished and cleared (north wing, dental hospital, res. wing, Hanson institute .etc) which seems to be even larger than the area at the front.

how good is he wrote:Patrick I agree with your points except the part about The Cordon Bleu school scrapping their plans. They (with C&G) recently submitted and got approval for a major $200m + development at 200 North Tce. I question now what will happen to this development. Anyone know?
The Cordon Bleu development into the ciry has been a thing for a good 15 years.
The hassle everyone has is that whilst the owners of Le Cordon realise they are able to garner public money for this
The last version of the CBD base i saw included support from the Government (not this one)
The hassle you have, is the Cointreau family control 200KW amd the school, so Adelaide isn't exaclty prime real estate to them, given they own land all over the world

I think the big difference is Commercial and General are involved/joint partners and their jointly approved plans are very different and more advanced from previous proposals [obviously to get approval]. However I expect they need to attract a big tenant [20,000 sqm offices] to proceed to actually build it. If they had got say BHP it would be underway. Anyone know if there are any other premium tenants in the market looking for big/new space? Also this site would now be competing with Lang Walkers Festival Tower for premium tenants. Maybe if the Govt moves/consolidates from their State Admin buildings it could go into one of these sites. We know that a few sales have fallen over and C&G lost their $5m deposit etc etc but anyone know the status of the State Admin Buildings now?

View of where the east wing (inc Cardiac centre) used to be. 15/11/2018. this site is being leveled with truck Loads of Soil (tip truck on far left of picture). The remains of the connecting walkways can be seen on the end of the existing building.

Thanks for the update. I haven't been able to get to that side of town for a little while now. Have they also now cut down all the trees along there too? Just in time for summer...

Why did those mature shady trees have to go? Were they in someone's way? Morons.
Cheers

Maybe because they are going to demolish the raised grass bed?

There were 3 plane trees in this section. Are the 4-5 further up still there?

I am confused. Aside from the innovation building, what else is to be developed on this site? The art gallery? Is there a hotel still planned? Labour’s ideas sounded quite exciting. What are the Libs planning on doing to the rest of this site??

I'm surprised at the speed of the demolition here. Considering it was said that demolition would take years, they'd removed an entire portion of the hospital in a few months...
