That corner is really transforming into what is encountered in capital city CBDs rather than in provincial cities. With Bendigo bank in the SE corner as well HSQ will be markedly transformed from pre 2008 days with 6 additional bldgs all taller than the originals. V pleasing. As implied before, a real 'city' atmosphere resulting.

i was in adelaide this weekend for the first time in a couple of months and walked through HS and the whole area looks amazing
adelaide has changed for the better a hell of a lot since i left 8 months ago.
the adelaide airport offers great views of the city, and from there you can see a few developments really changing the skyline, especially around the southern end.
my friends and i used to joke about the 'poor loner optus building,' but not anymore
the developments on HS tho, IMO, would really make an impression on people visiting the city for the first time

I couldn't agree with you more... I went for a ride through there on the weekend and it is starting to look awesome! This will really help change the perception of Adelaide.sacred_june wrote:i was in adelaide this weekend for the first time in a couple of months and walked through HS and the whole area looks amazing

Exciting stuff guys.. here's the latest project update from James Hines.
Here is my regular project update with some recent photos taken of our Crowne Plaza Adelaide and 20 Hindmarsh Square Apartment project.
The apartment tower is now poured up to level 11, and the hotel up to level 6.
Kind Regards
James.

Great pic update from Mr Hines and thanks for sharing Howie.
I was in Hindmarsh Square the other day and the transformation in this area is amazing. It has all occurred so quickly.
The apartment tower core looks to have almost topped out.

Thanks mr Hines and Howie for the pics. He always gets just the right angles to give the greatest impression of the bldg/s of concern.

I liked it better when it was a cinema, sit in the park eating while you wait for the movie to start. It was a good location, close to junk food, the mall and parking.
Its a shame no one thought to build a new cinema anywhere in the CBD, Marion megaplex is good, but a little too far for me to go, especially at night.
The new buildings are good, just wish they'd build over something else, like the RAA building.

I used to think that the academy complex was depressing. I never liked the outside of that dark red brick yukky building, and the only time it got a crowd was in school holidays, so while sad to see a cinema close, Im more than happy with whats being put inplace.fabricator wrote:I liked it better when it was a cinema, sit in the park eating while you wait for the movie to start. Also remember that the recently expanded Palace/Nova cinema is just down the road around the corner, and the complex along the Norwood Parade is close to town also

Why does no one seem to realise that there's a 10 screen cinema complex in Rundle Street? Sure they don't show ALL the dross that comes from Hollowood, but they show the big movies (Star Trek, Angels and Demons). AND they show a load of non-mainstream movies from all over the World, which are often a thousand times more entertaining than what comes out of Hollowood.fabricator wrote:Its a shame no one thought to build a new cinema anywhere in the CBD, Marion megaplex is good, but a little too far for me to go, especially at night.
This week I watched 'A film with me in it' staring Black Books' Dylan Moran. It was fantastic.
Palace Nova also has Adelaide's biggest screen! "ExiMax" (Get it? ... Ex iMax... Ahem ... )
Oh and you can take your beer or wine into the cinema.
They did build over the RAA building... remember the "bad neighbour" article?fabricator wrote:The new buildings are good, just wish they'd build over something else, like the RAA building.

The apartment tower has topped out, jump form has been removed.
[COM] Re: #U/C: 20HS | 53/49m | 15/14lvls | Hotel/Residential
just walking past today, I noticed that the building on the left (north side) actually continues past the side of the eastern one (sorry cant remember which is the hotel), so therefore part of the two buildings will face into one another with a small laneway or whatever in between. Didnt know that
