I think it could look good but only if they replace those 1960's awnings or whatever they are . the square boxes over the windows. I also hope they paint this building. I hope it's not purely just a change of windows which is what it looks like as they have already removed the scaffolding in the areas completed..

Is the glass better than CC1?

Took some pics from my phone on the weekend:
Hopefully you can get the idea. I actually like the glass but will not suit the building if they do not do something with the facade.

It actually doesn't look that bad at all. If they don't remove the "balconies" and keep the render, if they paint it a deep grey/green colour, it would look pretty good.
Maybe the budget for a curtain wall of glass got cut?

Thanks for the pics Ben. Yeah it is way too early to tell at the moment. It will really depend on the facade treatments. The DA did mention new glass and facade treatments and you can see the glass over th colums also has metal sections that extend beyond the glass area which suggests further treatments may be added. The glass is rather reflective which is good. It will all come down to what happens with the shade features and any further cladding/painting.

The glass quality is rather good, very reflective unlike the poor quality glass thats come out of CC1, etc. Hopefully it will follow suit with the rest of the area to modernise completely.

Noticed today that they have removed the sandstone/cream coloured cement panels on the first two floors on a section facing Grote Street. Back to a colum and floorplate shell in this section. This would suggest we will be at least getting a curtain glass facade around these two floors hopefully. The glass they have put in so far has some great reflective qualities which is a nice change. Hopefully the rest of the upgrade comes together well.

Great pics sam. Thanks. You can see the removal of the old sandstone/cream coloured cement panels to the extreme right of the 1st pic and some of these panels on the ground in the last pic. Good to see them gone
