LAW 'WEEK' - 11-17 May 2009
Law Week is starting, and on offer is a range of activities to increase
community understanding of legal and justice related issues.
South Australia's Law Week is part of National Law Week, and this year the theme
is "Law@Work".
There are a range of activities that may be of interest over the next few weeks
including:
* Youth Parliament - 1 pm Tuesday 5 May at Parliament House
* The Law Week Trial: Death By Dangerous Driving - 7.45 pm Thursday 7 May
in the Banquet Room Adelaide Festival Centre
* Courts Open Day - 10 am to 3.30 pm Saturday 9 May at the Sir Samuel Way
Building Victoria Sq Adelaide
* Prevention of Abuse of Older People Seminar - 3 pm Monday 11 May at the
Legal Services Commission 82 Wakefield St
* Festival of the Ombudsman Seminar - 12 noon Tuesday 12 May Mount
Gambier City Hall
* International Criminal Courts & Tribunals: Red Cross Seminar - 5.15 pm
Tuesday 12 May in the Finlaysons Board Room Level 12 81 Flinders St Adelaide
* Mock Trial organized the Victim Support Service - 1 pm Thursday 14 May
Port Augusta Court House
* Mock Trial with the Port Pirie Domestic Violence Action Group - 1.30 pm
Thursday 14 May Port Pirie Magistrates Court
* Elliott Johnston Tribute Lecture: Indigenous Australians and the Law
Post Apology Lessons Learned from the Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in
Custody, presented by Solicitor General Martin Hinton QC - 5.15 pm Thursday 14
May in the Victoria Room Hilton Hotel Victoria Sq Adelaide
* The Annual IJS Oration: this year it's "SCAMS", presented by Peter Kell
(Deputy Chair of ACCC, and formerly Chief Executive of CHOICE) - 7.30 pm
Thursday 21 May in the main Lecture Theatre N210 TAFE SA Adelaide City Campus
