It's one of those mining type trucks, weird, don't usually seem them at demolition sites do you?
Possibly to do with contaminated soil reclamation? Or just the huge amount of non-soil on the site?

BTW, it's convention on S-A to only list as u/c when actual construction starts (foundations etc), we don't include the demolition or other preparative activities as sometimes that's where the project stalls (North Adelaide LeCournu's site for an extreme example).

There's some serious escavating happening now, I hope this is going to be the start. Every day i drive past there seems to be more clearing of the area.

No photos but I go passed the site nearly everyday on the train. The old gantry crane was cut up for scrap 2 weeks ago and was removed in sections. Looks like it was cut up on site rather then removed in individual section to Sims.

All the old concrete has been "shredded" using what looks like a typical roadway ashphalt shredder. This has been piled up into a number of neat piles around the site and has been gradually trucked away. Because there is so much concrete to be removed, this is taking a fair while to do and there are still several piles around the place. I'll give them another 2/3 weeks or so before it has all been removed. while all this is going on, all the soil and old track ballast has also been dug up and dug down to a depth of around 1 foot below normal ground level (most likely to remove the various chemicals and other substances). Like the concrete, this has all been piled into a few piles although a large amount of the dirt has been removed. The track ballast is still stored on the southern side of the site. This may very well be recycled and used again on the system (not as uncommon as you think). The miniaturised mine dump trucks are still on site and still in use.

All the remaining track was ripped up around 3 weeks ago and the rails disposed of. The only line that is left is the dual standard/broad gauge headshut and main southern entry to Islington works. There is also one set of bent points at the southern end of the site but these are isolated from any section of track.

Great to see some development here. Definitely a smart move as land so close to the CBD should be fully utilised (and also help improve the image of the area).

Does anyone know what kind of car parking provisions there will be for the train? I am hoping they will be very large to accommodate the present and the future (as public transport demands will increase greatly in the near future).

Got some action on site today. Temporary fencing is being installed along the works entry road (in English, the track leading into Islington workshops from the Adelaide end) and will probably be done at the end of the day at the rate they are going. It's just a simple wire fence though, nothing like what you would see in the CBD. A couple of graders are also out and about today smoothing out the site but it will be a massive job to complete.

Does anyone have any info as to who the agents are for this development and when land will be available?

Can we have an update on the progress of this Development.

I remember seeing some photos but can't remember which forum it is on.

The old crane has been removed and it appears site works are in progress.

Hi all,

Was in Adelaide over the Anzac weekend.
This development looks like it has had the remidial work done on the land so when does the building start.
Does anybody know?

regards,

No idea but the site has been clear and idle for some time now.
I hope this goes ahead because the last thing the area needs is another fenced off parcel of land with over grown grass.
