Mods?
As a moderator I agree.
I personally prefer to keep projects, even if on the same site, separate for the sake of historical interest.

Thanks Will. The Government and/or council backed ''The Precinct' was over after the first two buildings, and was never going to continue with the original plan. Can we have a separate thread for an exciting proposal that seems to have a pretty good chance of happening.

The facebook page for this has been posting the odd picture of people placing a little sold sticker on their lot as they buy an apartment.
The latest photo on 7 Dec, I count 35 apartments sold with a further 11 reserved. There could be a couple more of each as the purchaser is blocking a section of the board in the photo.

Not sure if this has been reported before, but I was having a closer look at the planning documents, and it appears Woolworths has been secured as the supermarket operator for the proposed supermarket.

With all the apartment developments earmarked for that side of town, they will be making a killing over time.

Nice find.
At only 1100sqm, I wonder if it will be one of their 'Metro' stores.

It will be good to have another supermarket in the CBD. Only one supermarket in the CBD outside of Rundle Mall,
it's not enough in my opinion.

No there isn't.
IGA Hutt Street x2
IGA Gilles Street
Coles Adelaide Market
+ there has never been much of a Demand in the Adelaide CBD until now.

I went into the sales office about a week ago for a look, and must admit it looked very professional (apart from the air con not working). The sales board also looked about half full of sold or reserved apartments.

Gilbert St, not Gilles St.
There's also an IGA on North Tce, opposite the RAH. There used to be a Foodworks around the west side of the city as well, but that closed.
That said, all the IGAs are much smaller than Woolworths/Coles, and I'd say only the Gilbert St and northern Hutt St IGAs are decent.

Ben - i didn't get a hold of today's paper, is that the entire development under construction or just one tower?

The article was referring to just the first stage Dvious.
Starting site works next month is pretty quick, I would think Site works would begin in the middle of the year at
the earliest.
Getting back to supermarket discussion, I don't consider IGA to be supermarkets which means that Coles in the central market
is the only supermarket in the CBD outside of Rundle Mall. It would be useful to have a few more in the CBD.

Which Tower is stage 1? I thought they are selling both towers?

They're pretty similar admittedly, but I think ghs thinks that IGAs are convenience stores and not supermarkets? I'd probably agree with this.
The main difference (obviously) is that IGAs tend to be much smaller than your average Coles/Woolies/Foodland and offer a more limited range of goods that cater more towards necessities that you don't want to travel too far to get.
But as this proposed Woolies is apparently quite small, I don't really see how it increases the number of "supermarkets". It is likely to be a convenience store itself. Just because it's a Woolies, doesn't necessarily make it a supermarket.
