Still a great proposal. And to be fair it's a difference of less than six metres and now recommended for approval despite being over the height limit. The trade off for being approved over height limit is contribution to locality, and the sticking point here is that the plannners and GA wanted the transition down in scale to be from west to east (ie. city to park). An odd hang up given contradicitons elsewhere, but I don't think the design is worse off. I also didn't note any material dumbing but they did delete the shiny gold crown and a janky protrusion on the north face.

A gold crown as was on the original is typically to house plant, so I'd love to know where it disappeared to in the revision. My bet is it disappeared from the drawings for now, but the finished product will have a nice concrete box sitting on it, sans crown.
I'd also like to know what their problem was with a gold crown for gods sake.

Today hasn't been a great day for development news.
This is ok I guess, happy it may still happen.

Plant was moved to level 5.

I believe this is the same one? Urban Developer has it at 29 levels and 299-311 Pirie...

Lots of activity at this site today but it appears to be related to the Tucker Street apartments being constructed behind the Pirie Street address.

Correct.
None of the activity on this site is for this site. It's essentially the site compound, carpark and lay down area for the Tucker Apartments.
Assuming a 6-12 month build and fit out for Tucker, you're probably not going to see much on this site until the end of the year at the earliest.
