I was walking to work last night past Hungry Jacks and noticed that the two large plane trees outside had been totally removed (much to my dismay). Now it can either be for the upgrade of the footpath that will happen soon but I really doubt that as to the length of time they take and various cranes etc needed to install the convergence. So fingers crossed we see some work soon.

just a thought edit, they are doing new streetscaping for Pulteney st, and this area is the last of the street. The trees coming down may be for that
Its both lads...that corner is getting a few $ right now.

I can't wait to see this... hopefully it turns out as good as we think it's going to be from the renders.
Still hoping the idea is open for a superscreen somewhere, though.

Good to see even more progress.
Now, what's this I hear of the horrid old buildings on the corner being earmarked for development? Was it Shuz who mentioned this in another thread, or I am delirious?

All I know is that the Berlin Wall place that occupied the site has since moved out.
From there, I don't know if new tenants will occupy the site, or if a developer has bought it and is planning to develop on it.

I here you comrade. I live in one of those Eastern bloc housing apartments in the background. Not exactly government housing. They're very damn nice to live in actually.
Surely we can recreate a Karl Marx alley around here somewhere

If you're referring to the rows of town houses in the background, I personally think they look quite nice from street level. They blend in well with some of the older (possibly heritage) structures around them.

It's just the angle of the photo, seeing all the roofs and air-conditioners lined up in rows.

What is that bldg to the north of the cleared block facing KWS? Looks as though that area needs the bulldozer as well.

But have you been down the 'back side' laneways between them? They look dreadful from the balcony sides.
