Hate to drag this issue into this thread, but I think its funny that the ACC reject a 45m building on Light Square yet they approved 53m/49m buildings right on Hindmarsh Square which make more of a impact.

I didn';t know they were closing off the E/W roadway. Good to see.

It does look good!
However, the note in the bottom R/H corner of the pictures indicates that its an artists impression of the 'proposed' HSQ upgrade.

James Hines has kindly sent another construction update on 20HS and Crowne Plaza Adelaide development.
The apartment tower has topped out, and the hotel is up to level 13 (of 15)

The artists impression and the real apartment tower differ quite a lot - esp. with lateral profile. The James Hines pics are always good - of course positioned to give the best and most impressive aspect.
Thanks Howie and AtD.

I read in Clr Plumridge's latest newsletter that the ACC granted "encroachment approval" enabling the creation of a Port Cochere at the hotels main entrance
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porte-cochere.
At least i'll have somewhere to pull up my 6 horse coach and alight out without standing in the dreaded weather! and please do keep the peasants at a distance - they smell quite horrid, the awful beings...

Yeah, interesting. I hope this isn't step towards the square turning into private space. Then again, I highly doubt the ACC would agree to anything like that.

Jeeves is always handy with his horse whip.
If you look at the renders above - you can see the structure jutting out above the inner portion of the round about they have pictured. That's probably the extent of it in reality. No one will notice.

Maybe Apartment crane coming down?
Hindmarsh Square partial road closure
Motorists are advised that a partial road closure will take place on Hindmarsh Square in the City from tomorrow (6 August) to enable work on a nearby building development.
The north-western corner of Hindmarsh Square will be closed from approximately 6.00am tomorrow until approximately 6.00pm on Wednesday, 12 August.
Traffic on Pulteney and Grenfell Streets will not be affected, and access to the affected section of Hindmarsh Square will be maintained from Pirie Street. Approximately 16 carparks will be removed during this period.
The cooperation of motorists is appreciated.

Isn't the North Western corner of HSQ the side with the 'bones' sculpture on it?
