I know Edge and "Wave" are separate building but I belive they should be in one thread as they are being constructed simultaneously by the same developer and we don't have sparate threads for 20 Hindmarsh Square, Aurora ect... It will just make my updates easier instead of posting in two threads :)

Demolition has been completed and the initial earthworks have commenced. Looks like this one will be going up much faster then across the road at 400 KW street where nothing much has changed in the last 3 months...

Applications were lodged to commence construction of substructure for both buildings on the 30th April.

Cranes should be up by end of June!

Can't wait to see KWS Sth when I come to Adelaide again next. Will be a great change - almost like the CBD will have crept into the south.

Hi guys,

We are compiling a short list of 10-12 questions to ask Damien Mair Creative Director of Fusion. So if you guys have any questions YOU would like answered about the Rundle Lantern project here's your chance...

Btw, the Fusion site has updated their Rundle Lantern page.

Questions:
  • * Who decides what images are displayed on the Lantern?
    * What hours will the lantern be illuminated?
    * What is the annual cost of lighting the lantern? and who pays?
    * Will green energy be used?
    * Can the lantern display "moving images" similar to a large TV screen?
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

Great start.. although yes it can display moving images through the hippotizer software, just won't be of high resolution.

1.Is there a possibility of including a ticker across the top of the bldg along the entire length of the lantern?
2. Daytime - is there nothing to give relief from the bland wall?

Is there any chance that this could be the beginning of putting more of the same or similar on other buildings close by like the Target car park and sort of giving the area aTimes square feel about it, even adopting a northern lights type concept as well to give a big impact on that intersection?

I think someone mentioned Hansen and Yuncken are constructing this development. Well that appears to be spot on as Hansen Yuncken signage is up on the fencing around the site.

Would it be prudent to change the status of this one, as well as Wave to U/C?

I hope this is ready for next summer...the idea of having the ticker at the top would also be pretty cool to have.

Maybe also once this is finished something can be planned to cover the Target building and carpark, Maybe large animated bilboards or something bright and colorful...

I'm loving that the Lantern is being installed, but again I ask:
  • What's being created down below to justify and enliven the intersection?
So far all I've seen is the footpath upgrade, the removal of a couple of trees (which is possibly a step backward) and ... nothing else. There's nothing on that intersection - hopefully though the Lantern is a catalyst for further development and pedestrifiaction (if that's a word) of the intersection into somewhere people can congregate and enjoy the spectacle.
Exit on the right in the direction of travel.

That's what I'd like to know, too.
