yes great pic, and good colours down that end of Grenfell .. I like the colour of SA Wates, the red building and now the blue .. sick of boring green and clear glass and simple boxes ..

Just imagine if Hindmarsh Sq did have its own underground railway station, where the line went from the existing railway station under North Tce, arching around to the south under Pulteney St then head SW under Vic Sq and to meet up with the existing lines in the west parklands. In 20 years time a simple 2 way tunnel shouldn't be beyond our city in terms of being too over the top for little ol' Adelaide.
Hindmarsh Sq is starting to look cool. I like it

Nice. I'm still wondering what this thing will finally look like. The sales adverts in the papers show the building looking like a big battleship grey monolith and not too inviting TBH but the glass that's gone up so far doesn't seem to follow that line. It looks great.
Edit* After just looking back at the first few pages of this thread it is looking exactly as planned. The current sales ad isn't too flattering when you look at some of the other more colourful renders or the scale model of it where it seems to have far more life.

Correct, last "floor" is being poured.
The roof is concrete slab too though, so 2 concrete pours left.

Be interesting to know what the other proposals involve. Hopefully some tallies.

From The Advertiser:
Hines Property close to Conservatory deal
RUSSELL EMMERSON
November 19, 2008
HINDMARSH Square developer Hines Property is close to announcing a deal on the office space for its $70 million Conservatory project.
In an exclusive video interview for the SA Business Journal e-edition, director James Hines confirmed a deal was close for the five levels of office space.
"We'll be announcing a deal on the office space in the near future,'' he said. "We'll be able to talk about it very soon.''
Mr Hines would not disclose whether the company was negotiating with one or more parties.
The company's $150 million 20 Hindmarsh Sq development, which combines a 16-level Crowne Plaza Hotel and a 15-level residential tower, has passed 65 per cent of residential sales and was on target for a June finish, he said.

"We've seen a steady flow of sales over the last couple of weeks, so that's really pleasing,'' he said.
"We've just gone through the financial close and (are) commencing the construction phase so it's ticking over at a nice solid pace, but we don't like to overstate our position, that's not our game.''
Hines reported it had sold 50 per cent of the apartments in January 2007, and had reached the 60 per cent mark in June this year.
Mr Hines said the company was also looking at ``other opportunities'' in Adelaide, including a couple of serious proposals, but was yet to get any proposition to a point where it could be unveiled.

Close to announcing a deal? The Independent Weekly already carried a story indicating which govt. dept would be taking all five floors, earlier in this thread. The contract is done and dusted. Odd to have such a delay in the announcement.

We're lucky this building wasn't delayed 12 months or it may have suffered the same fate as Hills. Babcock and Brown are on the edge of receivership, according to the papers. Hopefully this building is so close to completion that the receiver will continue work.
Besides Hills, does B&B have interests in any other Adelaide projects?

B&B were involved in a consortium bidding for the PPP for the delivery of the new prisons that have been planned. They have no other major interests in Adelaide AFAIK.
