Looks like the first crane will be on the site boundary on Franklin Street

The reo around the crane base is all but done, just waiting on the form work to go on so the base can be poured. I'd say the crane would only be a week or two away at this rate.

With this crane on the SW corner, there could be 3 cranes on this site? It's a large floor area.

The electrical substation has finally been demolished now on this site. Noticed it on Monday morning with bricks and concrete etc being loaded on trucks and taken away.

From Wednesday, the secant walls are done, the foundation works are progressing well and there is a crane base on the Franklin Street side.

Signs are out around the Vic Sq area that Franklin St will be closed on the 18th of December (a Saturday). Safe to assume this will be for putting the crane up for this one?

sorry but this building is probably the most boring I have seen since I started visiting this website. why cant something interesting be built, like the the mode-gakuen spiral tower in Japan, or the deutsche post tower in Germany? even if it isn't filled straight away it doesn't matter; the empire state building was once nicknamed the empty state building because of all the space that wasn't being used.
which gives me an idea: what if there was a tower built on the east side of the city centre, near Rundle street (or around that area) that was for people to live rather than offices? make it 150m+, an interesting iconic design and there you have it: the best tower in Adelaide and a catalyst for more big buildings. and because it is residential it would eventually be filled (as more people will be living in the city in the future).
but the city central 8 building is terrible, Adelaide can do much better than that.
