Wow, that's a great picture, it shows just how close together all three projects are. That section of King William Street will look so different in a year or so when these are all completed!

This photo by Ben does a pretty good job of showing how dominant it is already.

Personally, I'm a little surprised that so many people are so positive about this building and vehemently negative about Spark. Spark may not be a beauty queen, but it has it all over this building in one crucial respect - it wasn't just a straight rectangular extrusion of the plot into the air. People are right to say that this will be "dominating", but I for one am not expecting that in a good way. And don't get me started about the render; that ghostly, invisible, see-through building. It even suggested that there would be no vertical supports visible from the outside - I think we can bust that myth already. Even prior to Lot 8 we had no reason to really expect anything but a massive boxy slab in a place where we might have had a couple of buildings to provide some kind of variety.

I don't mean to come off sounding so cantankerous, but the only way I can explain the difference in the two reactions is that there's a line of thought running "glass on all four walls = good, concrete anywhere = bad". That sounds just plain wrong to me, and I think that these two buildings are the proof.

By god, well noticed Prince George, there is not a single beam visible in that render, and if this building is characterised by any one thing - it's a shit load of steel beams! That render is downright deception! On the upside, the building covers up the hideous carpark completely, and that is an improvement in my books.

are we sure the glass won't cover the beams?

The glass they show in the render is transparent - you can see the interior lights and even right through the corners. Whether they use that glass leaving us looking at the frame or they switch materials, are we really getting the building in the picture?

Erm, wasn't that what I said?

The steel beams have reached full height! Looking at the indendations for the floorplates in the beams, total floor count now comes at 11, with 5 completed and 2 in progress.

God, wait till the glass goes up on this one.

I'm a bit worried to see the glass, because I have a high feeling this development will looking nothing like the render - hope I'm wrong.
