ADELAIDE - TOWARD A GREATER CITY SKYLINE

The dining room is going to be for members only but having been to the recent members meeting and having seen the full plans for the rest of the stands the prime position will be the dining facility they are planning for the southern stand. This dining facility will be looking south over the plaza, torrens and CBD. It looks awsome, especially at night and will be open to the public, i would guess for 7 days a week.

I like that lighting idea, could be similar to the alianz arena in berlin.

Is it just me or is there a northern "part" still missing? Or is it only 4 "parts"?

There's definitely 5 parts. In the top picture, you can see the skeleton extending northwards, still plenty of time to get it done before the 1st event on Nov 17th(A tour game involving England - warm up for the Ashes Cricket on Dec 3-7)

Went to the NRL match between Storm and Dogs at Adelaide Oval last night.

So much better than going to crummy AAMI stadium. Caught the train in, went straight out afterwards.

I must say that a new direct route from the train station to the ground is a must and will be welcomed with the new development. It feels a bit hodge podge making your way from the station to the ground at present. We knew where we were going but for punters unfamiliar with Adelaide (aka tourists) it would be helpful to make these types of situations obvious.

Unfortunately, for the game itself, I think Hindmarsh would have been more viable as it is a rectangle ground. I felt quite fart away from the action which does worry me in regards to Soccer being played at an upgraded Adelaide Oval. For AFL, it will be amazing though.

Good to see 10,000 people getting out there for the game. These type of numbers are common place in league mad Sydney so it was nice to see Adelaide achieve a very respectable crowd. Atmosphere for the game was pretty good. Lots of seasoned supporters to be seen and heard. The on going construction helped create a fuller feeling as everyone had been cramped into one area.

Took some pics of the construction. Apologies, not quite up to Xaragmata's standard, it's just an iPhone camera after all.

You would think that at some point, this will change. My heart says keep the hill/trees etc, my head says it's not possible.

Game underway.

Thoroughly enjoyed seeing winter sport played at Adelaide Oval and look forward to the new stand being completed and hopefully a world class upgrade in the coming years.

For the record, Dogs won 20-18.

Thanks a lot for the pics. I was surprised that they had such a good crowd
last night in the middle of winter.

On sunday august 22 (in the morning) the Adelaide Marathon will start and finish at Adelaide oval.
I don't really have a good camera and will probably be working. Maybe if someone else is interested they
could take some pics on this day and post them on this site.

They are excellent night & action shots!

Best pics I've seen from on the oval. Gives a good overall perspective of the full project from that angle.

I've taken the liberty of resuscitating this thread (for the second time) because it seems 'unprofessional' to have a forum on development in Adelaide but to exclude from it the most expensive and interesting development of the last few years. The project is also politically contentious and has given rise to a motion of no confidence in the state's treasurer. Partly because of the political sensitivities, the progress of the project has become extremely complex.

I think the project should have its place here, provided we can restrain ourselves from getting over-excited.

The latest news from the government-funded and re-organised Adelaide Oval Stadium Management Authority Limited is that the best that can be hoped for by the absolute, extended final date for agreement of August 31st is a 'conditional agreement'.

The government has called in Minister Conlon's 'project delivery expert' Rod Hook and installed Kevin Foley's most trusted insolvency expert Bruce Carter as chairman of Adelaide Oval SMA Ltd (ie the private company known as 'Adelaide Oval Stadium Management Authority') replacing SMA's former Chairman, SACA President Ian McLachlan. Treasury official Kevin Cantley is also involved in the new team.

advice that the cost of the project will be impossible to determine until the building is finished.

So, we wait.

what should happen is both political parties are brought in also, for the states sake we should get an agreement to start and finish the development without fear of an election.
