It took 17 years getting it going both directions at the same time ... Let's not be fussy. Having lived down that way for 30 odd years an off north on south isn't needed or justifiable at this stage or foreseeable future

The expressway is now open, I was lined up at Old Noarlunga but couldn't see anything at the entrance, I'm guessing the ribbon cutting was at 3 (with 7 news crews attending) and traffic started moving onto the roadway just before 3:15.

Northbound speed limit was 80k the entire way except for the hill at Darlington, which was 60.
Southbound was 100 the whole way, lowering to 80 at the interchanges.

Every bridge over the expressway had quite a few people watching and waving, taking photos, as well as a family with picnic chairs sitting on the mound parallel the expressway near Honeypot Road.

When getting off at Darlington, about half the cars in my group (myself included) did a u-turn at the median and went straight back on the expressway.

Drove it northbound yesterday afternoon (not by plan, just happened to be at Sellicks for lunch). Was pleasantly surprised to see 100 km/h for most of the way. Also drove it southbound to work this morning. Takes me 7 minutes less to get to work from Torrensville to Christies Beach as opposed to taking tapley's hill, brighton rd and lonsdale hwy.

quite chuffed.

Drove southbound on the Darlington to Sherriffs Road section yesterday, and was surprised to see the car that got off in front of me turn and head back along it northbound!

Did the Sherriffs Road to Beach Road section today (both ways). There seems to be quite a lot of work still needed at the junctions, where the speed limit is down to 40.

Isn't it 5? (Southern Expressway; South-eastern Freeway; Port River Expressway; Northern Expressway; North-South Motorway)

PRExy doesn't have a Motorway designation.

Not sure why PRExy has an expressway tag when it has an at grade intersection and opening bridge, but that's another story.

Do find that a little odd. Although it is freeway standard east of Eastern Parade.

Prexy has an A9 designation.

SE Freeway has the M1 designation and the Northern, Southern and North - South Motorways all share the M2 tag.

No it doesn't, as it ends at the at grade intersection before the opening bridge.

The SEXY also ends at at grade intersections, at both ends.

* A few years ago someone asked whether SEXY was the appropriate abbreviation. My response was not until it goes both ways!

Ok technically there are more than three but if we're counting roads that originate and terminate with a considerable length in between, its three. I dont count the north south motorway. 3kms is a joke.

maybe by 2100 we'll have upwards of 10 when they do the ring-route. at this stage i doubt south road will be a non-stopper before 2050
