Wow, this is looking good.

Let's hope it looks as striking in real life as the renders would suggest.
This could be one of the most exciting things to happen in Adelaide in my lifetime.

Great pics! The structure looks larger and chunkier in the photos than I'd imagined. Going to look super impressive when it fires up. 8)

Whoever it was at the ACC that got this project through should be congratulated and for God's sake lets get that person/s working on Vic Sq post haste!

Rundle Lantern has a new home on the ACC website.. complete with webcam. Thanks to Damien Mair and Natalie Di Fava (ACC Media & Communications Advisor) for the headsup!

Good to see the progress -- hope it will complete quickly. One of the only concerns I had about this project was how the panels would appear in the daytime, and from those photos I'm impressed. It's intriguing. In any event, it's a hell of an improvement.

its a pity we have to wait til the end of October for the launch - was hoping they might switch it on before then - hopefully they'll do plenty of trials before the official opening

I had a look in person and I cannot begin to describe how much of an impact this will have. Although the photos are great, they do not give you a feel for the size of the project.

Now that I could physcially appreaciate it, it made me realise how significant this project is for the city, and one which has a high chance of becoming an icon.

My only negative comment is that I strongly suggest that the ACC reconsider the hours of operation of the display. Midnight is too early for the display to be shut down on a Friday or Saturday night.

This one is getting more and more impressive over time. Will greatly iimprove apon Adelaide CBD lighting
Reminds me of a spectacular neon for Peter Styvesant on the SW corner of Morpett and Hindley.(pre 1974, before they windened Morpett St).

ADELAIDE - TOWARDS A GREATER CIT SKLYLINE

Imagine its New Years Eve
- Intersection/parts of Rundle & Pulteney St's closed off
- Dining/drinking stalls around Rundle St & Mall
- Thousands of people enjoying the live music, buskers, entertainment and Rundle St Markets (closing at midnight)
- The big countdown on the Rundle Lantern welcoming the new year
- Fireworks shotting from nearby city buildings (incl Centerpoint, HJs carpark, Crowne Plaza and the building on the sw corner of the intersection)
- Non stop partying till 2am with dance music

Theres my lil dream, not sure if its even possible or any of you even like my proposal. But one can dream :P

Also the Rundle Lantern could be used for the countdown to Fringe opening, which would be fantastic. So many opportunities :D

Great idea Crawf!

If this ever came to fruition I would definately attend. Plus I can now imagine the television images from such an event bein beamed to other states. This would be great promotion for Adelaide!

Yep definitely, it would show potential visitors that Adelaide is a vibrant, exciting and fun destination.
