Ask the Chapmans, Sandersons and Marshalls of this world to stand to stand in Elder Park and gaze upon all they spent so much energy and so much of our money to try and stop. Then ask then what are they for? The silence will be deafening.

Thanks Waewick.
What I meant is that we pay politicians of all persuasions and in all levels of government a lot of money through the tax system to lead and facilitate the advancement of our community and the enhancement of our environment, lifestyles and opportunities. Sadly a significant group of them spend a lot of time and energy (and hence our money) blocking and opposing any initiatives to do this. The history of attempts by these people to prevent the building of the footbridge is just one example.

I just don't recall many people outside the ACC trying to stop it? critise it, yes, but waste time trying to stop it?
I'm assuming by Chapman you mean Vicky Chapman? well she is probably a waste of taxpayers money full stop, not just in relation to the bridge

Organising a rally seems like trying to stop it.

Good old Rachael Sanderson! Still I'm not seeing a huge wastage of money, I wonder how many people they got?
I honestly thought it would have been Vicky Chapman.

I trust the Liberals and Supporters will be walking around the long way in the new year - just watch out for the sprinklers

They would have got a lot lot less than the numbers crossing the bridge during the Test....voting with their feet.
One of these named is my local member and the mail-outs and glossy letterbox drops etc were paid for by someone...e.g. you and I.
My local member hasn't bothered to reply to questions I've put to them on this subject.
Anyway. in spite of the negativity and their efforts the bridge is there (almost), is mighty, and worth celebrating. Looking forward to completion.
