I think Council staff has done an awesome job of preparing all the work around roll out of bike facilities within 3 years. That includes line marking, building the parklands trail to be a complete loop and taking about a handful of parking bays at the entrances of U Parks and putting in decent parking facilities.
These things take time…planning, reports and budgets, council consideration, tendering, appointment, supervision, site checking etc etc etc.

Okay, I need to rant. Ill direct this to Cr Yarwood as he might have some sort of influence somewhere although I know its not his fault.
Ive harped on about motorbike and scooter parking for a while, one of my pet hates at the mo and heres the reason why. Ive just come back from the markets and as per usual the motorbike parks were chokkas and we're forced to sqeeze in like sardines. Some poor sod who had parked about 30cms outside the line but not in anybodies way at all got a $54.00 fine for the privilage. I had a bit of a exchange with the parking officer that had great pride in issuing him with it. Not even cars get fined this much. It is absolutaly bloody ridiculous that although the council is advocating PT and bicycles in town with new $300 000 bike lanes one of the simplest and most cost effective things they can do is to transfer 3-4 car parking bays into Motorbike parking.
My Main trouble spots are Gouger st, always super packed, transfer the 3 parking bays directly outside the Commonwealth bank into bike parks. Outside TAFE on Currie St, full by 7.30 in the morning, transfer 1/2 of Rosina St parking to Bikes (6-7 spaces) and Gawler Place, allocate 15 or so bike parks in Gawler Place on both sides of the mall (30 in total). This would make an immediate diffrence and show that Adelaide is serious about congestion and the green alternative. If you really want to entice people you have to make it as easy as possible and at the moment its far from that!!

Why does the council need a expensive new 3-D modeling program for Adelaide when they no longer have the planning power to approve major developments. What is the point of the 3-D modelling capacity? For demonstrations or promotion?
More tens or hundreds of thousands of my rates money...
And I just want my footpath paved in Wakefield Street, not stuck the existing crumbling, uneven and lumpy bitumen.

To build on what I have already said. I ride most days to Uni and Pulteny street is a prime example of how annoying on street bike lanes are. There are cars parking, buses stopping, cars turning left. There is ample space to make safer bike lanes but of course....it's easier to paint white lines on the road.

This is part of the attraction of riding in, saving money. I fill my scooter up with $9.00 (wish I had a decent motorbike) every 2 weeks as opposed to my car which is $80.00 every 2 weeks. Most people on bikes and sooters dont do it for the sheer joy of riding through peak hour tarffic, being cut off by idiot drivers who because they are in a car think they own more of the road than a person on a bike, freezing thier bits off in the middle of winter when its pissing down with rain. There has to be some pay off. If you make this incentive harder to get then I might aswell sit in my nice heated car, with the CD stacker going add to polution, congestion and all things the council is trying to shy us clear of.

This is an excellent example of text that would be better off sent to me @ [email protected]
I get emails from residents and users of the city almost every day guys – I forward them to the General Manager responsible and he arranges a response to indicate:
• What can be done in the short and medium term;
• If the issue is being investigated or is programmed in already; and
• Any other relevant stuff.
I then forward an email back to the person advising them of these matters and what I will do to follow it through.
I also flag with the General Manger and CEO that if there are any gaps in where we are heading I would like to chat about them (with the relevant officer) and work through the best way to respond to get the best outcome in the quickest and easiest possible way.
I must stress that I am talking about issues that we can resolve (like bike parking), not general requests for information.
I have been elected to represent the community on matters like this so don’t forget you can advise Council not just chat here...Look froward to an email so I can action!

I do prefer riding down Pulteney St than King William St. (southern K W st is good though). They allow 3 carparks infront of the old BankSA building, where you get sandwiched between them and buses going past you. I dont dare ride down Grenfell St anymore. Pirie St is better, but its not cars you need to watch for, its absent minded office workers who dont look and cross the road right into the path of oncoming cyclists, or just just stand in the bike lane.
The way they have put bike lanes along the westend of Franklin/Grote is a good idea.
And the bike lane line along Rundle St has almost faded out, itd be nice to repaint it please.
North Tce is a mess for cyclists

Riding around the eastern side of Vic square is arguably the most dangerous for bikes. Its awful as I wanna go straight, yet every bus and car wants to turn infront of u either left or right.
And there needs to be way more bike racks at the city squares. Vic Sq has none, Hindmarsh Sq has none.
It was nice to see so many other bikes parked around the Central Markets today.
