Ok, so my sinister mind is telling me the ACC has a hidden agenda to avoid skyscrapers being built by filling up all key CBD locations with 10-20 storey buildings. At a minimum I bet the ACC are amazed that Property Developers (and the SA Govt) have not publically tried to shame them into lifting height restrictions...

App lodged with ACC, might finally happen:
Type: Development Application Received
Application Number: DA/163/2008
Lodgement Date: 29/02/2008
Location :113-115 King William Street, ADELAIDE SA 5000
Description: Construct a 16 storey office building with roof deck
This building already has partial pre commitment so hopefully construction will be fast tracked.

Thaks for the info Ben.

However this raises a question. If the building already has some pre-commitment, why not make it 24 levels again?

Sweet, another crane to add to our skyline :D :D . It sucks about the height though, as it is such a prime location. Is there any pictures of this proposal :?:

Hurrah for the lack of effort from the developer for the pursuit of a more substantial building.

I like many here would like to see taller buildings built where they should be built, in the central core, but let's be practical and realistic, why try to build our taller buildings on such small plots? My disappointment lies in that this developer who wants to build high has acquired an allotment of the wrong size in the right place when other developers who have much larger allotments are not building higher (see City Central). If Pascot had a larger area to build on they could have built a 24 storey 90-100metre tower. I've said it before, if only that building on the corner of King William and Waymouth Streets was part of the deal we may have seen something much taller. Real pity.

Cheers

We know construction on this 16 level tower will start in September, shouldn't the title say approved?

Cheers

I don't think it actually has been approved. Did we miss it?

No we haven't missed it. It has not been approved. The title of the thread should be changed back to PROPOSED.

this proposal should not be approved i for one am sick of seeing these 16 level buildings
that have no impact on the skyline. on king william street this building would not even
be notices at 16 levels.

No, it would be noticed for its blank wall. (...until another building flanks it :!: but then, if the older building next door is heritage listed, then we have problems... :( )

Cheers

This has been officially put on hold. Application for planning approval was put on hold on Monday.

Hopefully they have acquired the adjacent site and will now build a bigger building, however if this was the case they wouldn't put the application on hold they would have cancelled it and applied for a new development at a later stage.

Hopefully an improvement in any way shape or form would be great.

I guess you mean the small building to the north. Isn't that for lease at the moment?

Cheers

Yes, however someone pointed out earlier that the building is strata-titled (multiple owners) which could complicate things. Nonetheless, I am hoping too that they are in the midst of negotiating a deal that could acquire the adjacent site and expand the premises for a new application to be lodged for a larger building.

Shuz, I said to the north.
