Thanks for the pics. I would imagine it would be complete before November in time for Christmas. Look forward to announcements about the prospective retialers.

I'd like to catch a bus to Burnside soon. Which route number is best?
For starters, my avatar is the well-known Adelaide Aquatic Centre insignia from 1989.

Try the 140, 144, 147 or transfer to the 300

Check out this aerial time-lapse series of the building site, made available by nearmap.com - The resolution is stupendous.

Can someone please enlighten me on the infrastructure (large arched canopy) and the giant eucalypt tree in the centre of the redevelopment? Is the crown of the tree open to the elements?

I assume this is so but the images are not clear.

i gather that the tree will be covered, however the roof will have louvres to allow airflow, etc.

There's actually two glazed roof elements. One main 'roof' that is seen in construction already (well the steelwork is) and then there is another elevated section directly above the tree canopy that allows some degree of ventilation. It can be seen in the promotional images. A significant amount of work is going into ensuring the tree remains healthy and safe for the occupants within.

It should look stunning once complete. I was directly involved with the project, but have since left Adelaide - can't wait to see it complete later this year.

Thanks, Mants and Andres for your responses on the emerging canopy in the middle of the Burnside Village extension.

I pass this site almost everyday and it is taking shape at what seems a cracking pace.
Given the size and scale of this redevelopment, it's extraordinary to see the date of the first post (by Will) in this thread was only 12 months ago, with completion expected before Christmas).

I haven't been in Adelaide for a few weeks now so am keen for an update...

Anyone heard about the retailers they have lined up? From the Eastern Courier article last June (http://eastern-courier-messenger.where ... -village/) I expected something would have been announced late last year.

Someone I trust and who is close enough to the action to have a reasonable idea of what's going on told me a little while ago that they have not been able to secure any of their A-list targets (Chanel, LV, Prada, Gucci, Zegna et al). Not that I think they had a realistic chance of locking down any of those brands anyway bit I guess why you have an A-, B- and C-list.

Not sure who they are targeting now but it seems very quiet given they only have 6 months to open to make Christmas 2011 worthwhile...

from what I can gather (they are rather descrete about these things, they have done alright on the leasing side so far. I do believe they are on target for completion prior to Christmas.

As for the A listers, I tried to ask but was given the standard in negotiations with a number of clients.
