Quite possibly - refer to my post above about the government saving squillions by keeping this simple and buying off the shelf.

No, it will not read more than one 'smart' card at once. /facepalm

How is that a facepalm? If two different cards are placed together and swiped over, I think it's quite a legitimate question to ask if they'll both be charged a trip. If not both, then which one?

Here's a crazy idea, take it out of your wallet and scan it.

Removing much of the convenience of an NFC smart card. I may as well use an ordinary metroticket in that case, they'll at least take up less room in my wallet.

No ticket will be charged. If anymore than 1 smartcards of any kind a present on the sensor, the machine will be unresponsive.

Nobody is making you use a MetroCard. Use a Metroticket and stop f***ing complaining about something that is not a problem.

wow, baha.
I'm with you Nathan, I thought you had a legitimate question. From what Ive noticed in other cities, people just scan their wallet. How ridiculous if we need to physically take out a separate smart card for a 2-section trip. Defeats the whole purpose of having a smart card. Might as well keep it like we have now

Thanks jk1237, I thought it was a reasonable question. Having used a Suica card a lot in Japan, leaving it in your wallet is the only option. If everyone had to stop and take out the appropriate card from their wallet to scan, there'd be chaos at the turnstiles.

I received an email today about the metrocard I'm waiting for:
Dear metrocard trial participants,
Based on feedback from current participants, posting a metrocard is much easier than collecting from an Adelaide Metro InfoCentre.
Therefore the Metrocard Project Team would love to assist customers and mail out all trial metrocards.
Please access the below link to provide your details:
https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/YN53HBZ
Metrocards will be posted within the next 7-10 business days once details are provided.
If postal details are not provided, we are unable to mail out your metrocard.
Attached below is a list of 78 metrocard agents - locations where you can recharge your trial metrocard.
Thanks for your interest in participating in the Adelaide Metro metrocard trial!
Kind Regards,
Metrocard Project Team

Another solution, keep your normal card in your wallet and use it normally. Now take your 2 section card and tape it on the inside of your pants (in the crotch area) now everytime you need to use your 2 section card you have the simple convience of thursting your pelvis at the scanner.

How about a more serious solution? Have people wanting 2 sections tap off (so that it knows you're within the 2 section distance). If you don't tap off, it defaults to your normal 2hr fare.

Because the government has purchased an off the shelf system and kept it simple.

My idea was better because the more you thrust your hips, the better your life is.
I will draw up a chart.
