[COM] Rundle Lantern
[COM] Re: #U/C: Rundle Convergence
It even looks better (without the lights on) just on its own compared to the bars. I hope the city council will address about the remaining of the building that isn't covered. Obviously, we cannot just leave it like that.

i think the trick will be to keep an eye on the webcam - i'm sure there will be several hours of testing across a few evenings...jk1237 wrote:Im guessing they may do some some testing earlier. Anyone know?
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

I live right opposite in the student hostel and I haven't seen any testing so far. I'll keep my eye out and take some photosWayno wrote:i think the trick will be to keep an eye on the webcam - i'm sure there will be several hours of testing across a few evenings...jk1237 wrote:Im guessing they may do some some testing earlier. Correct me if I'm wrong, but its not possible for all of it to be covered by these panels because of ventilation issues.Edgar wrote:It even looks better (without the lights on) just on its own compared to the bars. [COM] Re: #U/C: Rundle Convergence
It is. But they would have to reinstall/modify the airconditining system within the carpark to accomodate for the loss of ventilation throughout. But that would cost millions of dollars, something certainly far outweighing the cost/benefit ratio.

The Rundle Lantern will come to life on Friday 24 October and then will operate every day usually from dusk to midnight. It has 748 square panels covering a total area of 1066 square metres lit with computer-controlled low energy LEDs. It can be programmed to display simple numbers, letters and geometric shapes as well as an infinite array of lights, colour, designs and patterns. It will be one of the greatest light shows in the southern hemisphere and brought to you by the Adelaide City Council!

Can the council look into allowing the lantern to remain operational until say 2:00AM on Friday and Saturday nights. As someone who is around Rundle Street at these hours it can foresee that shutting it down at midnight when many young people are around will potentially cause embarrassment to Adelaide.david wrote:The Rundle Lantern will come to life on Friday 24 October and then will operate every day usually from dusk to midnight. Agreed.
Hell you could even chuck in an odd 'Dont get smashed' message on there every now and then. Or if you wanna get tricky (which I am sure they will!) you could make it subliminal. *Dont drink lots of alchol* *vote harbo* *vote rann* *Height restrictions are a good thing!*
the works.
