I think I remember that development, it was to be called "Spire" if my memory serves me correctly. It caused quite a bit of hype back then.

Spire was a different development, was for Bank Street (?) where the Travelodge Hotel proposal is mooted for now. Although I think that one is dead too.

Congratulations to the team, will be looking forward to seeing this one go ahead

Bentham Street! I remember that one well too, particularly when the revised design hit over 100m, the first in a very long time!

Yeah, I also had high hopes for the Spire - but its demise was one of many in those dark days when every other Australian city was going ahead, and we were deep in the State Bank then GFC funk.
I am old enough to remember when they poured the slab for the State Bank / Westpac / RAA building. In construction terms, t was pretty momentous for that time - then turned into a decades-long wait for something taller.
While Crowne Plaza is taller and was much welcomed, the Keystone building will have the same level of city defining importance as the State Bank all those years ago.
Really hoping that this one (and Festival Plaza II) go ahead. They are both architecturally significant and (with the buildings around the Market precinct) will change the feel of the city.
Good luck Keystone team and I hope to take my grandkids to the spectacular observation deck someday soonish...

Hey mic, when will be the last time you can add an amendment to the design?MicBara wrote: ↑Thu Jul 25, 2024 5:19 pmHey team,
Approved. The media found out before we did which was pretty annoying because we like the members to be informed first when we can.
The reserve matters are largely additional detail that we have put off until we had the certainly of planning approval. Demolition of the rear hall is probably one of the toughest approvals you can ever achieve in planning. Everything else is just regular work.
Now that that hurdle is cleared we will get to work on the final development plan and demolish the rear hall.
Completion by July 2027 is going to be a challenge but we're on it.
Asking because I want to remind and make sure you don't forget to add the sparkly lighting to the skyscraper, make it sparkle when an Adelaide football team score a goal, etc. An important part of the design IMO, and would improve public opinion significantly
Cheers.

Keystone Tower is now live on PlanSA's 3D Model. See its physical impact here: https://plan.sa.gov.au/state_snapshot/d ... ty_tracker

Yes, 207 pultney street tower (180m). I wouldn't say abandoned, more like 'on-hold'.abc wrote: ↑Sat Jul 27, 2024 1:27 pmwhat's the green thing behind Switch? Theres a note on JWDT's office front door which says "Thankyou for your interest in our exciting project. We will be able to say more as we move through the approval process"

That's an extremely optimistic stance, even if a project is a serious proposal like @cdj insisted it was, them going cold for such a long period almost always means momentum is lost and it's done for.VinyTapestry849 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 27, 2024 1:50 pmYes, 207 pultney street tower (180m). Always felt like a stretch for the company involved, and at seven and a half years since it was first mentioned publicly I'd bet good money it's dead.

A reason that I think warrants it being 'on-hold' is that they put the property on the market, but then subsequently withdrew it just as quick. Perhaps they got a get out of jail free card from a Chinese bank or something, now considering their next move. Until they come out saying its totally done, finished, not happening, I wouldn't completely put this one in the bin of the past ...Nort wrote: ↑Sat Jul 27, 2024 7:00 pmThat's an extremely optimistic stance, even if a project is a serious proposal like @cdj insisted it was, them going cold for such a long period almost always means momentum is lost and it's done for.VinyTapestry849 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 27, 2024 1:50 pmYes, 207 pultney street tower (180m). The thing about JWDT Pulteney, that gives me a small bit of (delusional) hope that it's still alive - its an awful lot of effort, time and resources to engage an architect and engage planning consultants to design a 180m+ building, especially in Adelaide. If it was just just another stock standard 12 storey building I'd say it's dead but given its a 40 storey tower you wouldn't go to that effort unless you were serious about following through on it.

For perspective this building will top out about 2 metres shorter than the smaller Rialto North tower in Melbourne

Don’t worry mate, we’ve got a few changes to floor plates internally and lighting will be part of that variation.VinyTapestry849 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 8:25 pmHey mic, when will be the last time you can add an amendment to the design?MicBara wrote: ↑Thu Jul 25, 2024 5:19 pmHey team,

Changing colours? Sure but the aim is to be able to say “Welcome back VinyTapestry849” when you’re coming back from a holiday.

To be fair, I think VinyTapestry's positivity toward this project is underrated so I wouldn't blame you doing this, at first I thought he was trolling but I really see his passion. Maybe the long line of heartbreak in the Adelaide development landscape has made us other members a bit aged and jaded. Kudos to Viny!
