I think you'll find that's temporary hoarding.Professor wrote:Thanks for the photos.
SURELY they could do better than a colour-bond fence!!!!

In another surprising twist, the top of Altitude has a line of LED lights that change colour every few seconds. From Blue to red, yellow, green to purple. Really stands out (I noticed it from Anzac highway as I drove in to the gym this morning at 5:30)

Finally. We've known for a couple of years but hear it is.

A poor attempt to capture the rooftop colours but I guess you can get the idea...

I saw this too last night, and I must admit that it looks great.Pikey wrote:In another surprising twist, the top of Altitude has a line of LED lights that change colour every few seconds. It is amazing how such a small and in the scheme of things inexpensive thing can make such a massive difference to the look of the building.
I hope that this feature is actually left on permanently and not switched off like the one on the Aurora Building on Pirie Street.

The one on Aurora failed somewhat a few weeks ago. Something has happened either in logic or connections that made it display colours incorrectly. I hope it's switched off to repair it, and not just to ignore it.Will wrote:I hope that this feature is actually left on permanently and not switched off like the one on the Aurora Building on Pirie Street.

The light on the top of altitude is not working at the moment, maybe they were just testing it a couple
of weeks ago. I went into the city to check it out and it wasn't working

Like most Urban Construct developments, the Altitude building, once complete will become a member of the Oaks group of apartment hotels.
However, to avoid confusion (in my opinion, it will cause confusion), instead of naming it the Oaks Altitude, it will be known as the Oaks Precicnt.

Although we knew that the loft as well as buildings 4 and 6 will be copies of the Gallery, I was having a look at the plans, and have to say that the Loft is an improvement on Gallery. Not only, is it 1 level taller, it incorporates an active street frontage for its entire length along Franklin Street, something the Gallery does not do. The Loft will also have 2 retail tenenacies fronting the new internal plaza.Ben wrote:The Loft is now on public notificiation until 17 June 2010

The interface with Franklin St is a blank 1.8m high concrete wall with a 1m high glass balustrade attached. A 2.8m high impervious barrier broken only by a 1.5m wide set of stairs is almost as far from an active frontage as you can get. This is probably the worst treatment of a major street frontage we have seen in Adelaide for decades.
Check the levels on the sections. Unfortunately, I assume, this is being assessed by DAC and will therefore be rubber stamped for approval.

The (two) retail spaces face.....only into the central plaza, between the carpark entry and exit, opposite the Altitude carpark and on the driveway leading to both? Well, that's smart. Good to see Woodhead is following the Photocopy model of development, too, that was so elegantly pioneered by Woods Bagot at City Central. Bless them and their generic little hearts.
